BIRTHDAY PARTRY
Tuesday afternoon Mrs. C. C.
Calvin entertained with a party
the occasion being her son, Lar-
ry’s 6th birthday. Outside games
were played by all and pictures
taken of the little guests. Re-
freshments of iced drinks, cook-
ies and Larry’s cake were served
on a large table in the yard. The
guests sang “Happy Birthday”
and found their places by their
names printed on each glass
and they are as follows: Tommy

been disclosed by Associated
Press correspondent Louis Loch-
ner — the murder in cold blood
of some 10,000 citizens in Benin.
The people had taken shelter
ir. the subway. Living there, they
had become unruly and demand-
ed cessation of useless resistance
against the Allies. The SS com-
mander became very angry,

the subways be flooded.
Oniy a few people near the em-
ergency escape hatches managed
to reach the streets.
Even today parts of the Berlin
subway system are flooded and
bodies still float in the water

Norwegians Find
New Horror Camp
New York, July 3.—The Paris
radio says Norwegian authoriti- s
have discovered a new Nazi hor-
ror camp with thousands of bod-
ies of war prisoners and Rus-
sian laborers. The broadcast did
not say where the camp was lo-
cated. The victims are said to
have died of starvation or been
tortured to death by their Nazi
captors.

nounced the ex-communication of
the Most Reverend Carlos Dur-
ante, Bishop of Maura, for doc-
trinal errors.”
The Reverend Durante advo-
cated the marriage of Roman
Catholic Priests, Portuguese ra-
ther than Latin church services,
and divorce under certain circum-
stances. He also said that the
Roman Catholic church should
not be linked with the Vatican.
Since his ex-communication,
Durante has announced that he
has established a new "Brazilian
Catholic Church.” He assumed
the title of Bishop of Rio de Jan-
erio and shortly will begin or-
daining priests and bishops.

his aunt, Mrs. Herman Sparks,
