wards led the singing with Mattie
Kate Tidwell at the piano Joyc'
Dale Chancellor and Claud Elliot
sang “My Buddy” which made
an enjoyable Armistice Day pro-
gram. Come next Sunday and
tear our juniors. A different group
has charge each Sunday.
We need some more men in

Did you know that East Texas,
.according to the latest statistics,
has several thousand more cattle
than the western half of our state.
It is believed by most authorities
that this section of the state will
oon be a stock country while the
western half will change to agri-
culture. So it might be to our
own interest to try to use our
fohnson and Bermuda grass in-
stead of trying to kill them.

"it and that two or three acres of
popcorn will afford him a much
greater profit than cotton, thus
nroving again that Delta County
does not have to rely solely on
cotton for a cash crop.
Here's sweeter, tastier bread
We have collected to date $15,
229.07 for insurance premiums,
this represents 163 contracts out
of 755 in the county. This leaves
592 indebted to the Government
for premiums on cotton insurance
which, when collected, will ac-
count for some 50 or 60 thousand
dollars more, making in the neigh-
borhood of $75,000.00 that will
be paid out.
Delta County, according to the
latest figures, has 155,000 acres
of land, 117,00() acres of which
is classified as cropland. Of this
amount, according to our records,
approximately 36,000 acres is ter-
raced, leaving about 80,000 acres
not terraced. Now of course, all
of our land dosen’t necessarily
need it, but we can safely say
that at least 40,000 acres more
should be terraced.
The cover crops that were
planted before this rain are in
fine shape. If you havn’t planted
yours, do so at the earliest op-
portunity.

We sincerely hope every pro-
ducer will vote in the election to
be held between Dec. 3 and 8th.
this election will be held in every
community in the county for the
purpose o’ electing delegates and
alternates to the County Con-
vention and also Community Com-
mitteemen. You will have printed
ballots this time and the place of
election will be open all day.
