Community projects during the
xear have all been geared to mak
ing Harris Chapel a nicer, safer
place to live These projects have
included family name plates or
signs at every home, repairing
the Community center, finishing a
community park, lighting installed
for the picnic area, lighting the
community park, tables bought for
the community house, trash b;>r

! storage rooms built in back of tbe
community center, black topping
of parking area at community cen
ter. sign in front of community
center, and cleaning up around a
place owned by a family in anoth
er state.
The community center has ac-
tually become a community cen
1 ter since it has been fixed up. II

community festivals, parties and
bazaars, socials, voting, church ano
funeral services, and Bible school
All of these uses are in addition to
. the regular community meetings

The pride of the individual fain
dies in Harris Chapel shows up in
a drive through the community.
*• The clean, mowed, well kept
pastures on farms such as the
Marne Bowen farm. * Ralph Met
i c Jlf’B. Lamar Yarborough'* and
i Carter's Allred Redmond s, and
Tom B Williams shows the inter-
est In Improving their farm by
pasture improvement. New homes
such as the Ackers and Adams and
the improvements on the Roy Met-
1 calf's. Homer Metcalf's. Bill C.rav
cs'. Ravis lladen's and other
homes show the' pride in the indi
vidual home and family through
out the community. Recent land
rlearing and establishment of pas
tures show the interest in increas
mg income on the farms.
Canning, sewing, and freezing of
home grown meats, fruits, and
vegetable* assures the families of
good nutrition, and gardens are
found at almost every stop. The
families in Harris Chapel arc also
active in P TA, civic clubs, gar
den clubs, and home demonstra
turn clubs and, participate actively
in Cattleman's,Association. Here-
ford Association and to the other
farm meetings and groups.
