Guild speaker touts
value of printed photos
"Buy the best memory card
you can afford/' was one of
Jeanne May's recommenda-
tions to the Mineola League of
the Arts Photography Guild
members at the January meet-
ing last Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Printed pictures bring vital-
ity and detail to scenes cap-
tured by the camera. May em-
phasized the value of printing
photographs for long-term en-
joyment rather than thumbing
through pictures on a phone
with friends squinting at the
screen. Proper paper selection
enhances the quality of the pic-
ture. The wide variety of paper
or materials available for print-
ing enables the photographer
to choose lustre (close to semi-
gloss) for realistic colors and
skin tones, metallic for rich bold
colors or others for sharp detail
and intense color.
May discussed several print-
ing lab options, monitor cali-
bration and various framing
techniques. Guild members
look forward to more choic-
es for printing favorite pictures.
February's theme for mem-
bers is "framing" a picture.
Arches, doorways or trees
framing the composition are
possibilities.
Larry Guest, Dana Turner, Chris Albritton and Charla Martin examine photos printed on different types of paper during this
month's Photo Guild meeting. AT LEFT: Jeanne May talked about the reasons to print photos, methods of printing and vari-
ables that affect the quality. May was the speaker during last Tuesday's Mineola League of the Arts Photo Guild meeting. The
group meets on the fourth Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the league building. (Photos by Patsy Sharp)
