Mineola Memorial L brary Notes
BY LIBRARIAN MARY HURLEY
March is here and we
will be tired on Friday.
Why will we be tired on
Friday, you ask? Well, it's
March 4 of course. Think
about it.....Anyways.
We would like to say a
thank you to the Meredith Foundation
for their support of the Mineola Memo-
rial Library. We couldn't offer many of
the things we do without their support.
We have a week of events for Spring
Break.
Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. will be
the March of the Stuffed Animals. This
activity will have children bringing one
of their favorite stuffed animals to the
library. While they are here, they will
do counting activities and have a stuffed
animal parade and listen to some very
short stories and answer questions re-
lated to those stories.
Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. brings
guests from the Reading Education As-
sistance Dogs also known as READ to a
dog program. Guests will get to meet the
dogs and their handlers and learn a bit
about the program. A story will be read
to all of the guests and then a few may
Letter to the Editor
Dear editor,
I am Karen Anderson with the Wood
County Master Gardeners and Project
Leader of the Wildscape Gardens at
the Mineola Nature Preserve. I want to
thank the paper for the fabulous picture
last week about some of our volunteers
working in the gardens. We really ap-
preciate the 1/2 page picture and the
information provided. All of our volun-
teers are retirees and it is getting harder
keeping up with the gardens so any
exposure we receive helps bring atten-
tion to our project and hope it brings in
some help.
If someone wants to come help with
the gardens they do not have to be a
master gardener. They can learn by
working with us or just come by with
any question they have about gardening
in East Texas. We normally work in the
gardens every Tuesday afternoon at 1
p.m. thru the winter months and then go
to 8 a.m. on Tuesdays when the weather
warms up usually the first of May.
We appreciate any support and ac-
knowledgement of our project by the
Monitor.
Thank You,
Karen Anderson
Project Leader, "Wildscape Garden"

edition stating that Emilee Davis was a
former MHS student was incorrect. Davis,

slip.
Thursday, March 10 is Popcorn Day
and we will have popcorn for our pa-
trons.
Friday, March 11 will be Batman v.
Superman at 2 p.m. This activity is for
the older children (tween and teens) and
they will get to make something, play a
game, and have a snack.
Saturday, March 12 will bring the
regular meeting of American Girls Club
at 10 a.m. (you must sign up by Wednes-
day, March 9), followed by Plant a
Flower at noon.
Except for Popcorn Day, all events will
last 30 minutes to an hour.
Then we go back to regularly sched-
uled programming. The after school
program on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and
Preschool Story Time on Wednesdays
at 11:15 a.m. (which will not meet over
spring break).
A new program will be the MML Book
Club. Its first meeting will be Thursday,
March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) at 6 p.m. in
the Library. The book to read is Second
Sunday by Michele Andrea Bowen.
There are books available to the first

Home School Heroes will meet Fri-
day, March 4 at 1 p.m. Wonder if they
will take a hike that day (you know, the
March 4th thing - okay, 111 stop) and
then on Friday, March 18 at 1 p.m. will
be Family Craft Day.
Computer Q & A will be Saturday,
March 19 at 9:30 a.m.
Annex Book Sale will be Saturday,
March 19 at 9 a.m. Please, remember this
is a fundraiser for the library so that we
may continue to offer new programs

This month we are saying goodbye to
two of our employees. Both are seeking
career changes. They are both trying
something new. One is trying a new
career path and the other is going to try
retirement. We wish them both well and
will miss them a lot.
