tfUfY MMORS—Ironically, the only two seniors on Coach
Cecil Choate's Gary High School basketball team were
either mining or sorely handicapped in the recent Gas
Capital Cage Tournament. Bobby Phillips, guard, was out
of action with an injured ankle and Leon Pierce, stellar
point maker, played with a raging fever all through the
tournament. Pierce, however, snowed that even while ail-
ing he is one of the area’s all time greats by making the All
Tournament team. And against Rusk, with a fever of 103,
scored 20 points to lead his team to a win. Phillips was
sorely missed and his absence no doubt contributed towards
the Bobcat’s elimination from the tournament.
