the Carthage High School and Beckville High Sclool bands.

L. N. (Rip) Wiggins bought out the
Interest of X X Haggard In Hag
gard's Hardware. It was announced
here this week by the two former
partners. The store will operate un-
der the title of Rlp’a Hardware with
Mr. Wiggins as the ownerammager.
Mr. Haggard waa the original own-
er of the store. He bus been assoclat
ed with It for the past six years.
Mr. Wiggins bought half Interest
In the store about n year and a hall
ago.
The new owner will continue with
the same policies as have been follow-
ed under tbe former partnership. Mr.

Monday for Hobbs, New Mexico
where he will he associated with the
clinic there.
Mr. end Mrs. Don Martin left -for
Port Arthur Tuesday after receiving
word of the death of Mrs. Martin’s
aunt, Mrs. Kate Stevena. The funeral
was held Wednesday.
The Jacksonville Indians copped the 17-AA title here Fri-
day night by trouncing the Carthage Bulldogs, 33-12, and get-
ting a big assist from the New London Wildcats who upset fa
vored Center on the same night.
With key personnel crippled before the game and others
to go out with injuries during the fray, the Bulldogs could nev-
er get up its old-time steam that vanquished Atlanta, Kilgore,
Van, New London. San Augustine, Rusk and scared the pants
off of Henderson.

For Open House Nov. 27-28
H*h “Open House” at the Carthage telephone building
next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 27 and 28. and ev-
erybody is invited to come and tee the city’s telephone system
in operation.
The invitation is being extended by Roger Bartlett, mana-
ger of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and all of
the firm’s 45 local employees. Hours are from 2 to 5 p. m. and
7 to 9 p. m. each day.

They Include the “Voice Mirror" a re-
cording device that enables guests to
hear their own voices. There will also
be a cable splicing demonstration and
a special chart showing how the 14.-
800 telephone calls made each day In
Carthage are -distributed over the >4
hoars.
Invitations are being mailed to all
customers, urging them to attend the
two-day program, the manager said.
The Invitations are not needed for ad-

The Panola County Broiler growing
Industry got a shot la the arm this
week when Lovell Kelley, manager
of the X X Rawls Lumber Company
here, disclosed that he’d been able In
arrange for prospective broiler grow-
ers to finance the building of broiler
houses,
Mr. 'Kelley, along with Riley Can-
non of the Carthage Feed and Sup-
ply Company, hava been working un-
tiringly towards bringing the broil-
er business to Panola County. The
new finance plan removes the last
major obstacle In the path.
