type of celebration for the lOtJlh
birthday of McCulloch County this
year. It also is the 50th birthday
of the City of Brady.
Korky Steffens, chairman of the
steering committee, says the
plan now is to hold the centennial
and the July Jubilee as one cele-
bration, both at the same tin e on
July 2, 3, and 4
“The important thing now is to
get the people out to the meeting
next Friday. Some want t<- have
the centennial, and some don t.
"Of course, tf the people are not
behind it, it would be a failure,’
he said.
j “Everyone will have to partici
pate, and the way we have it work-
j ed out, everyone will participuli.
1 “Money won’t be going out of
town. We think it will be coming-
in,” he said.
* ♦ •
Steffens said other parts of the
. centennial plans will be explained
at next week’s meeting.
“We’re calling the presidents of |
the clubs, and asking them to send
their members. Since we got so j
: much cooperation on the Jubilee
parade last year, we think we an ,
get the same thing here.”
But whether they are opposed or
in favor of the centennial, it's ur-1
gent that business people, organi-
I zations, and county people attend
| the meeting, he said.
Others on the steering c nun itt< «-
are K. O. Henderson of Voca, Paul
I.ohn of Waidrip, A. P. Wakliepj
of Melvin, Herbert Moseley ot Ro-,
I chelle, S. P. Tomlinson, Jr., Char-1
, les Dai ley, Mrs. Burry Francks and
; Mrs. Milt Miller, all of Brady.

Agent Finds Fruit
Damaged by Cold
How did the fruit trees fare
during the freeze?
“All I’ve looked at are pretty
badly burned,” says County Agent
Jimmy Cusenhary.
“The bloom looks okay, but then
you look inside and the small fruit
sit the bottom is brown.”
Of course, there still may be
some fruit this year, Cusenhary
said, since not all of the trees
have bloomed out yet.
McCulloch County pasture land
had been looking fairly good until
the freeze nipped it.
“It will still come out fast if we
can get an inch of rain," the coun-
ty agent said.
Parade Float

Funds for the float have been
provided jointly by the City, the
County, and the July Jubilee. Th

signed so .t could be changed liom
yeai to year.
So far, invitations have been re-
ceived for tin- float to appeal in
12 parades in neighboring com-
munities.
The committee usks that any
ideas for the float be in writing
