CLOSES MEETING
Rev. B. Broome returned last Fri-
day from Leedey, Oklahoma, where
he had been the past several days
holding a series of meetings at the
Baptist Church of that city. He re-
ported a successful meeting every-
thing taken into consideration. Rev.
Broome was pastor of the church at
that place before coming to Ladonia
and has a host of friends there.
He filled his regular appointment
jn Ladonia last .Sunday at both hours
and will be on the job from now
on. .*
For the weather, last Sunday was
a very good day in our church. The
pastor returned Friday afternoon
from Leedey, Oklahoma, from hold-
ing a revival meeting there. The
meeting was great in many respects.
Now, that all outside obligations
are over, we are on the ground, un-.l
ready for hard, and vigorous wtnk.
We are prayerfully hoping that ev-
ery member of the church will
thoroughly align themselves in ev-
ery department of the work, and
let’s go forward in a great way.
Co-operation is what is needed in
every part of the work, and it
means muelv that s-vt-ry member feel
the weight. of responsibility, and
address themselves diligently to the
tasks set before us. Much needs to
be done. We need to get our work
better organized, especially our
young people.
We are now in flu- midst of our
Conquest Campaign, which closes on
Marche 15th. litre we need to pray
much, and let tin In-ar Father have
His way. Don’t forget our mid-week
service, prayer milting, each Wed-
nesday evening. 7:3U. Let’s make
much of this service for it means
much to the < Inin h.
Our Sunday School each Sunday
morning at tcl5, and preaching at

attend and have a part in every

GOOD RAINS FALL
In order that readers at a dis-
tance may kn< w just w hat sort of
weather has prevailed in the Ladonia
section the pa t 13-w days the News
will try and inform 'hem.
Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday
it was warm and < loudy with pre-
vailing south winds arid occasional
showers. Foggy weather prevailed
early Sunday morning.
On Monday morning about 7:00
o’clock, a hard rain fell, with some
lightning and thunder, the precipi-
tation amounting to more than one
inch. Following this clearing skies
resulted, with the wind from the
southwest, later shifting to the north
bringing cooler weather.
The rain was fine, filling cisterns
and tanks and placing a fine season
in the ground.
Since the present editor of tho
News has been in l.udoniu he ha.-<
only heard but few complaints that
the town is not growing as fast as
it should nor making as many im-
provements that ought to be made.
Of course no one should be satis-
fied with the growth and develop-
ment of the home town. That would
mean that all the necessary induce-
ments to expand would soon cease
to function. But to say the least l-a-
donia hus been far from being asleep
and many notable and commendable
improvements have taken place here
in the past several years which are
worthy of mention, in order that
the outside world may really know
that things have been accomplished
and others will take place. A few
of the most important will he en-
umerated.
Since the destruction of the old
school building by fire a commodi-
ous new structure now stands on
West Main Street that would be a
credit to towns much larger than
Ladonia. An affiliated accredited
school under the best of supervision.
Ladonia has one of the best munic-
ipal water works system of any town
in North Texas, with a mammoth
water tank that towers 137 feet
above the ground.
Ladonia has as many blocks of
cement sidewalks a* any town of
like size in Hi > state.
Ladonia also has village mail de-
livery, something unusual for a third
class postoffiee to boast of.
The business square was recently
paved of reinforced concrete at a
cost of approximately $25 000.
Ladonia has one of the best fit8©
trucks of any town in the state with
a splendid volunteer fire ihqigTt-
1 ment.
Ladonia has a complete municipal
owned sewer system, second to none.
I.adonia the past year secured na-
tural gas.
Ladonia also gets its electricity
from tne Texas Power <6 UgLt
the biggest concern of its kind in
the south.
Ladonia has four fine brick church
luiihlirigs that are a credit to towns
twice the size.
Ladonia also has a splendid tele-
phone exchange, owned and opera-
ted by the Southewestern Bell Tele-
phone Go.
Ladonia is located on the biggest
railway system west of the MissL«-
sippi River, the Santa Fe.
There are about severity business
institutions represented here with
three gins antt an ‘otl mill.' " .
I he town has a population of tiiuro
than two thousand people.
GonsLderablc improvement is new
being inane in the resilience set tion,
and rumors arc t lint within the next
twelve months will see several buil-
dings constructed.
Of course there is still room for
i in pi ovoment which it is hoped will
tie made from time to time.
The location of a cheese factory
