under photographs like this one, which hang on
the walls of many office ; throughout the Navy.
All you can see is sky and water, and in the
I’acifie alone there are *><) million square miles
of it. The problem, that of finding the sub-
marines, is one of the greatest that faces the

CAPTAIN R. M. HARRELL, commander of Destroyer Di-
vision 252, is shown |^ere giving an order during the submarine
hunt. He is one of the most enthusiastic Naval officers we
met during the entire trip, and believes that the destroyers
are the real heart of the Navy. One thing was clearly evident,
his destroyermen had a beautifully maintained ship, and went
through their paces like veterans.
