Enrollment for the fall term
here was past 700 as we went to
press and late registrants and
graduate students are expected to
boost the total enrollment still
higher. Enrollment for the 1952
fall term was 670.
The current semester opened
with freshmen orientation Sept.
7-8. Freshmen registration was
conducted Sept. 9 and upper-
classmen registered Thursday
Sept. 10.
First classes of the fall term
were held Friday morning Sept.
11. Students attended the first
chapel program of the new year
in Mims Auditorium that day.
They were addressed by Dr.
Thomas H. Taylor president of
the college.
Dr. Taylor told students that if
he were enrolling as a freshman
at Howard Payne College he
would "go to work in a good
church join in student activities
on the campus study and make
friends."
A freshman class enrollment of
some 235 students exceeds last
fall's low freshman class enroll-
ment by some 110 students. Only
125 freshmen registered for the
fall term in 1952. The low 1952
freshman enrollment is reflected
in a lower sophomore enrollment
this year.
Some 21 students have enrolled
for studies under HPC's newly-
organized agriculture program
being conducted on the Danie'
Baker campus. William B. Cowar.
is director of the agriculture pn -gram.
