Twelve HPC seniors have been
named to Who's Who in American
Colleges and Universities.
They are John Baker Nancy
Barnes Jim Brown R. B. Cooper
Flora Frazcr Harold Ilitt Doro-
thy Love Danny Proctor A. J.
Quinn Geneva Reeves. Frank
Rutledge and Eva Nell Turner.
These twelve were selected
from the 1953 graduating class of
Howaul Payne College in an all-
student election held recently
with final approval being made
by the faculty.
They will be named in the an-
nual collegiate Who's Who 1954
which is compiled by the editors
of Who's Who in America.
All of them will receive their

Frances Miller and David Pip-
pin were crowned King and
Queen of Howard Payne at the
annual Campus Carnival Friday
night in the Yellow Jacket Gym.
The royal pair sponsored by
the junior class were crowned by
Parkie Hitt president of the Stu-
dent Council which sponsored
the event.
Other members of the royal
couit included Jane Ellis and Bill
McCullen freshmen; Sylvia Run-
dell and Eddie Rogers sopho-
more and Lea Mitchell and Ira
Lee Henslee seniors.
Pu ceding the presentation a
trumpet trio composed of Ernest
C;mo. Roy Flournoy and Phil-
lip Love played fanfares.
A. J. Quiim stucient Council
vice president was in charge of
the Carnival.
An air of Hallowe'en fun filled
the gym during the evening.
Clares and organizations had
booths throughout the gym.
The senior class sponsored
movie comics and a fortune tell-
ing booth.

Another unusual exhibit was
that of the Press Club. Theirs was
a game in which contestants tried
to knock cigarettes off of Coke
bottles with ping pong balls.
The Jacket Coeds sponsored a
game room. Ping pong basketball
throws and bowling were featur-
ed. Mrs Brunetta George had food
for sale the benefits of which
went to the Press Club.

terman on the Yellow Jacket foot-
ball squad.
He is past president of the jun-
ior class a member of the H Club.

spring he is majoring in Math.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
II. M. Baker of Childress.
Nancy Barnes of Browmvood
has a double major of secondary
education and math.
She is a member of the Jacket
Coeds. This school year she is
serving as secretary of the student
council.
In the past she has been a mem-
ber of the Yellow Jacket band.
Jim Brown a ministerial stu-
dent is a member of the Minister-
ial Alliance Life Service Band
and Circle K.
He was on the 1951-52 boxing
team at HPC.
His major is English. He hails
from Odessa.
R. B. Cooper is president of the
B. S. U. In the past he has serv-
ed as missions chairman and re-
voiional vice-president of that or-
ganization. He is pastor of a Mexican mis-
sion church in Eldorado.
His double major is Secondary
education-English.
A ministerial student he is a
member of Life Service Band
Volunteer Mision Band Minister-
ial Alliance and Alpha Chi.
His heme is Dallas where his
father is pastor of North Oak
Cliff Baptist Church.
Flora Frazer will receive a B. S.
degree with a major in elemen-
ttary education.
She is corresponding secretary
of the B. S. U.
Last summer she was a student
missionary under the Southern
Baptist Foreign Board to Cuba.
She is a member of Life Ser-
vice Band and F. T. A.
Her home is Falfurrias.
She is director of the Mexican
Baptist Choir.
Harold Hitt is president of the
HPC student council.
A ministerial student he is a
member of the Ministerial Alli-
ance Life Service Band and Mis-
sion Band for which he is treas-
urer. His home is Big Spring where
his father is chaplain of the VA
Hospital.
Dorothy Love is music chair-
man on the B. S. U. executive
council.
An elementary education ma-
jor she is a member of Y. W. A.
and Life Service Band.
