Mrs. Ira -Cundiff, of Stuttgart. Ark.,
arrived in the city Monday to visit
her father, Geo. J. Haydank, who con-
tinues seriously ill.

Capt. Geo. West, wife and daughter,
Minnilola, of San Antonio, are the

in Aransas Pass, is renewing his youth
by putting in his time in the duck
blinds and sporting with trout and
redfisli.

All business houses were closed to-
day in observance of Armistice Day.
Many of the business men and all those
sportily inclined were up early and in
the duck blinds by sun-up. evidence of
which was manifest in tlie bombard-
ment that was almost continuous from
the fresh water lakes and the bay.

Arthur (Red) Kelioe came in from
Fayetteville, Ark., this week to look
after the property interests of his par-
ents. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kehoe.
“Red" is attending the University at
Fayetteville. He says his parents are
enjoying the best of health and send
their best regards to old Aransas Pass
friends.
F. S. Rogers, son of W. H. Rogers,
who recently left Aransas JPass for
Freeport and Houston, is now located at
Mexin, Tex., where he has a position
with the Southern Pacific railway.

The girls' basket ball team of the
High School played tlie girls of the
Gregory school l-ast Friday afternoon
and won by a score of 19 to 4. The
Aransas Pass team was composed of
Lottie, MeCaskill and Ruth Blankmeyev
forwards: Mary Lindsey and Gertrude
Moore, centers; Merle Manning and
Willene Bovd, guards. The game af-
forded lively entertainment and was
well and cleanly played.

L. D. McNaugliton has purchased the
north half of the Browning lot and
building*' on Commercial street from
the owner. R. C. Young, and is having
it repaired and renovated for a home
for the Square Tailor Shop, of which
he is proprietor. The south half of
the . building is occupied by Dr. W. W.
Lemmon. Mr. Young has moved his
shoe repair shop into the room for-
merly oceupuied by Dr. LemmoiY in
the Underwood building.
W. D. Beatty, an employee in the
Treasury department at Washington,
D. C. and D. L. Beatty, manager of
the Atlas Oil Co., of Fort Worth, Tex,
which is operating at Duncan, Okla.,
were tlie guests this week of their fath-
er, Dr. C. H. Beatty and their brother,
Dr. Henry Beatty. They spent a day
deer hunting in San Patricio county
and other spare time was spent in the
cluck blinds. They thoroughly enjoyed
their outing.
Miss Martha Ada Yoemans, of Bee-
ville, Tex., niece of Mr. and Mrs. T. J
Sansorn, of this city, was united in
marriage November 5 to Mr. Clarence
S. Moser, of Kelly Field, Tex. The
young couplef were accompanied by
Mrs. T. J. Sansom, little Woodrow
Wilson Sansom, Mrs. Lewis Curry and
Mr. G. W. Ernst to Rockport where the
ceremony was performed by Judge Joe
Harper. The happy pair will make
their home in San Antonio.

Mrs. Emma C. Yarrow, of Bayside,
Tex., was a shopping visitor in the city
Tuesday. Her mission included a re-
newal of her subscription to The Prog
ress for another year and in presenting
the editor with a Satsuma orange that
was plucked from one of her trees the
morning she left. The fruit was large
and of a delicious flavor. Mrs. Yarrow
says everyone could have a few orange
tress if they would plant and care for
them, but she says “they will not
grow unless they are planted.”
C. I. Albertson, of Sinton, Tex., and
W. H; Learner, of Davenport, la., were
business visitors in the city Wednes-
day. Mr. Albertson is interested in
the Triangle Oil Company which is
putting in a test well about three;
miles southwest of Sinton. He says
rhey have reached a depth of 2 400 feet
and that formations are similar in
many respects to the formations
shown in the logs of Sigmund wells.
