Once Upon a Time, A True Story,
by Gloria Vanderbilt - Alfred A.
Knoph, Inc. published this only this
year. A child’s intense suffering,
from the poor little rich girl's earliest
memories through the custody trial
to her 17th year. The book is so very
well written one wonders if little
Gloria could have done it alone while
stitching up all those jeans.
One More Sunday by John D.
MacDonald - a tale of murder,
extortion, intrigue, and redemption.
The classic MacDonald. This writer
has to his credit 48 novels, 2
non - fiction works, 500 magazine
stories and has sold 70 million copies
of his writings world wide.
Shanta by Marie Thogen - newly
reprinted fiction for young folks.
Shanta is twelve rainy seasons old
when her betrothal is arranged. A
sad/sweet story that takes you to a
small village in India and on travels
through that land of mystery.

Whenever we are scheduledfor a Friday the 13th, the
thought of it recalls all the traditional fears, bugaboos
and omens of bad luck such as black cats, broken
mirrors, etc., as well as their good-luck antidotes in
the form of horseshoes, four leaf clovers, etc., many
of little-known origin, that have presisted throughout
the ages. However, as people turned away from

superstition and toward faith in God, the truth about
their destiny began to emerge: that their good fortune
did not depend on any charms or circumstances, but
on God's love and guidance. You too can learn the
truth about superstitions such as Friday the 13th at
the Church of your choice, and Sunday the I5th would
be a very good time to start.
