George Simmons, of Ben Franklin

second prizes on hogs at the Dallas
Fair this year. These are not the
first prizes won by Mr. Simmons at
the fair, he having won sweep stakes
on hogs last year. Delta county al.

Two Hours of Mirth.
Tuesday night Cbas. Lane, deliv-
ered his lecture at the court house
uuder the auspices of the Cooper
Lyceum, to a medium sized audience,
doing himself justice and giving his
hearers one of the best lectures given
in Cooper. Mr. Lane is witty, can
become serious at will, and leads his
audience with him, sometimes work
mg on the sympathetic and again
curry ing the house into a convultion
of laughter. Mr. Lane’s lecture, as
a whole, was well worth hearing and
the Cooper Lyceum are to he praised
in securing tins gentleman as one of
their attractions.
The Mozart Symphony Club is the
next attraction to jireseut itself, and
from advance press notices, this too,
will be a very entertaining feature.

A 3 year old pig whose weight
reached the 870 pounds mark was
exhibited at the fair in Dallas. This
was a Delta county product and
should be an incentive to the farmers
to pay more than usual attention to
hog raising. Mr. George Simmons
of Ben Franklin was the owner of the
herd to which this one belonged.
He won 12 prizes on different anim-
als belonging to him.
