Bundy Wins Mile In Knox City
The Throckmorton Track
team went to Knox City over the
weekend to participate in the
events there and out of 16
schools entered in the field,
came back with 7th place
over-all honors. The Hounds
were beaten by only one other
class “B” school, Goree.
This meet was divided into
two divisions, Varsity and Jr.
Varsity; so there was an overall
balancing effect on the younger
boys, giving them an opportun-
ity to compete more in their own
class.
From the Varsity heats, Joe
Putnam placed 5th in the 330
hurdles with a 43.2 second time
and 6th in the high hurdles with
a 16.8 second run.
Jerry Young racked up two
4th place wins in the 440 yard
dash with a 54.0 second time
and the broad jump, sailing 17
feet and 11 Vi inches in that
event.
The big story of the day was
Bill Bundy’s outstanding per-
formance in the mile run. He
outran the entire field with a
time of 4 min. 50.5 seconds to
