Plans Tea
Beta Mu Chapter of Delta Kap-
pa Gatnnui met at Judsun Grove
School the evening of Junuary 9
at 7:30
During the business meeting,
Miss Anne Davis, president, gave
some information concerning the
National Convention to lie held
In Dullax August 0-13. Mrs. Jack
Ballard of Pine Tree was elected
hospitality chairman for the Beta
Mu Chapter. Beta Mu's special
guests at the convention will be
tin- teachers from Minnesota.
It was decided that the Long-
view members would give a tea
in Longview during the District
H meeting of TSTA in March, ra-
ther than in April as first plan-
ned. Miss Jessie Mue Stephen-
son wan made ehuirinan of the
group to plun this tea.
Mrs. Ouida Milner, of Glade-
water, program chairman, then
introduced Miss Florence Mercer
of Longview, who spoke on;
"Every Teacher Professionally
Minded."
In her talk. Miss Mereer stress-
ed the fact that teachers should
always be good salesmen of Edu-
ration. A teacher should not he
a salesman who jams his foot in
the door, but a salesman who al-
ways arranges to have an open
door. She quoted from a talk
made by a visiting tcuehrr from
Germany, and from others whom
she met in her work with NEA
in the East last summer. Miss
Mercer also stated that a good
teacher should teach her pupils to
love a little more and hate a lit-
tle less. She should keep her
head in the clouds and her feet
on the ground.
The Judson Grove teachers
served cake and Russian tea to
the following members Minnie D.
