An Open Letter

Mr. and Mrs* John Q. Gladewater
Deat Folks:
For several years our town has been faced with u housing short-
age. The growth of our city was hampered because there weren ♦
enough places for people to live in.
Obviously, someone had to build new homes to solve our acute
shortage of living quarters. Proudly, I announce the beginning of a 46-
house addition on Canfield Street which should temporarily solve our
immediate shortage.
The^e hopbes, comply,y i n, |»MM, material x
available, are going to be bargains. They will be something home-~~
owners can really be happy to own.
In building these houses my contractors and I are using mass pro
duction techniques to cut cost and allow us to build you the finest home
available for the money spent.
Built primarily through Federal Housing Authority and G! loans,
these fine homes are being sold to both veterans of our armed se*-
vices and civilians alike.
The veteran may buy his home with a $200 closing cost fee on u
100 per cent loan at 4Vi per cent interest, whilo the civilian home-
owner may buy his on a 90 per cent loan at the same rote of interest.
Previously the latter group paid one-third down.
This change in down payment procedure should enable anyone
in Gladewater to buy one of these fine homes. There are still a few sites
left and we have 20 different types of homes to offer.
Paying far the home In my new addition is just like paying rent
and in many cases is much cheaper.
If you want to own your home come by our field office on Canfield
Street and let us show you around. The first five homes are rapidly being
completed and the entire project should be finished within a few
months.
In closing, I would like to express my thanks to all my friends and
neighbors for helping this project off to a successful start Our town has
needed a housing project for a long time, and those who are interested
in seeing Gladewater grow have been most helpful.
Sincerely,
CARL B. EVERETT, JR.
