a remarkable human being,” said
frequent co-star Jack Lemmon.
Matthau
“We have also lost one of the best
... actors we’ll ever see.”
Flowers were placed on
Matthau’s star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame on Saturday.
Often cast as a would-be con
man foiled by life’s travails,
Matthau bellowed complaints
against his tormentors and moved
his lean, 6-foot-3 frame .in surpris-
ing ways.
“Walter walks like a child’s
windup toy,” Lemmon once said.
Matthau’s performance as Lem-
mon’s shyster brother-in-law in “The
Fortune Cookie,” directed by Billy
Wilder, won him the Academy
Award as best supporting actor of
1966. He was twice nominated for
best actor as the cantankerous old-

Lemmon); and as the feuding vaude-
ville partner of George Bums in

How many of us have tried com pads, com plasters, and perish
the thought, razor blades to rid our toes of those painful, thick,
ugly corns, but only to find a few weeks later, THEY’RE BACK!
The problem is not the thick piece of annoying skin on top of the
toe, but the bone spur causing the corn... Once the little wedge
of spur is removed, the corn falls off, and almost never returns!!!!
Fixing hammertoes (toes with corns on them), is a simple out-
patient procedure, with minimal pain and minimal time off from
work. Most Importantly, you can wear all kinds of shoes and your
feet will feel like new!
Stop having hurting feet...simply give us a call.

Cox Air Conditioning & Heating
Cox A/C & Heating Inc. wishes to announce,George Finch of Finch Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. as a new partner..
I, Yvonne Cox, thought through this difficult decision with much research and time. I am happy with his decision and feel
that it is for the betterment of Cox A/C and Heating.
There has been little change in the company other than location. This partnership became necessary in order to continue
the exceptional business practices of my parents, Weldon and Erma Cox. They always stressed the importance of taking
care of our family of customers. It is because of their values I am sharing the news of this partnership with you, our
dedicated customers. I had two choices I needed to consider: joining forces with a cold, impersonal corporation called a
Consolidator, or with someone who understood the importance of being a family owned company. I chose the second
option. Finch Air Conditioning & Heating is owned by George Finch who has been in business in La Porte for 15 years
This partnership will allow me to continue business in a caring, family atmosphere.
Cox A/C & Heating Inc. is still very much alive, and we ask that all of our devoted customers, as well as potential
customers, realize we are nothing without you. Our customers are the most valuable asset we will ever have. Weldon Cox
had a dream 29 years ago. Cox Air-Conditioning was his dream, and his goal was to provide for the community an honest
and fair place to do business. His dream became a reality, and his goal was met. Please help us keep his dream alive by
welcoming us into your home. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. If we can put a smile on your face, our
day will be considered a success. • - '
