Bo Masters gave the Ganders a
one-run lead in the seventh by
blasting a two-run homer but Port
extra frames.
Masters and Bradshaw each
finished with three runs-batted-
in. Cleanup hitter Paul Barry and
leadoff man Kelly Jacdbs were
both three-for-five at the plate.
Barry scored two runs and drove
in another.
Southpaw Jeff Raney, who went
5 2-3 innings before making way
for winning pitcher Barry, also
rapped a pair of hits. Third
baseman John Martinez had toe

NEWS RELEASE-H.B. 885
Homeowners who are 65 years of age or older and failed to
receive their school district homestead exemptions in 1979 have
until April I of this year to do so. In this way, elderly homeowners
will be able to take advantage of the tax feedze associated with
the $10,000 homestead exemption, said Sherwood Blair, chief ap-
praiser for the Chambers County Appraisal District.
Accordinq to a law passed by the Special Session of the 67th
Legislature, over-65 homeowners who qualified for the school
homestead "tax freeze" in 1979, but did not apply for the limita-
tion, may file an application with the chief appraiser of the ap-
praisal district in which the home is located.
Application must be made with, Chambers County Appraisal
District before April 1, 1982.
To qualify for the tax limitation, on January 1, 1979 a
homeowner must have satisfied these requirements:
-Be 65 years or older /
-Own his home
-Use that home as his principal residence
The chief appraiser will consider all applications and notify
each applicant before April 15, 1982. If the application is approv-
ed, the chief appraiser will make an entry on the appropriate
school district's 1981 appraisal records.
