Travis Elementary to kick
off reveling contest Friday
Contest money to buy computer equipment
Travis Elementary School will
kick off the Tons of Paper, Tons
of Prizes Recycling Contest
2000 at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the
school.
The kickoff will be held in
front of the school at the yellow
and green paper retrievers from
1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
During the rally, student vol-
unteers will collect paper from
vehicles at drop-off points while
the Travis band performs.
The contest will continue
through May 6, and all the
money that Travis Elementary
earns from the contest will go
toward computer equipment for
the school.
Travis Elementary School is
located at 100 Robin Road in
Baytown.

Jeremy Matthew Martinez,
passed from this world back into
the arms of his heavenly father,
after his birth on March 24,2000.
He was preceded in death by his
maternal grandparents, Gregorio
and Sara Alaniz of Baytown.
Surviving relatives are, father
and mother, Richard and Julie
Martinez of Baytown; brother, R.
Jason Martinez of Baytown; pater-
nal grandparents, Walter and Doris
Martinez of Baytown; several aunts
; and uncles.

held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March
30, 2000, at Earthman Memory
Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Jay
Johnson officiating.
Arrangements were under the
direction of Earthman Funeral Direc-
tors, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown.

Eduardo “Lalo” Reyes, 85, of
; Baytown, passed away Tuesday,
-March 28,, 2000, at his home.
A resident of the Baytown area
for 29 years he worked for Fluor-
Daniel and retired in 1980.
1 He was a member of Templo
Horeb. He enjoyed fishing and
hunting.
Eduardo was preceded in death
by sons, Jose Reyes and Eduardo
Reyes Jr., and four grandchildren.
Surviving relatives are, wife of
68 years, Mercedes Reyes of Bay-
town; sons and daughters-in-law,
Daniel and Maria Reyes, Francisco
and Josefina Reyes, Marcelo and
Elsa Reyes; daughters and son-in-
jaw, Maria and Tanis Flores, Mag-
dalena and Aaron Acosta; daugh-
ter-in-law, Odilia Reyes, all of Bay-
town; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Gilberto and Angela Reyes of Ray-
Inondville; Margarito and Susana
Reyes of Abilene; Tomas and Beat-
riz Reyes of Raymondville; Fermin
and Amelia Reyes of Phoenix,
Ariz.; sisters, Tomasa Diaz and
Guadalupe Lopez of Ray-
mondville; 26 grandchildren, 56
great-grandchildren and 11 great-
great-grandchildren.

8 p.m. Thursday, March 30,2000, at
Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown.

Earthman Funeral Home with Pas-

LANORA ‘LENNIE’
JONES WHEELER
Lanora ‘‘Lennie” Jones Wheeler,
40, went to be with her heavenly
father on Sunday, March 26,2000.
She was a loving .wife, devoted
mother, wonderful sister and a
favorite aunt and lifelong friend.
Lanora touched the life of everyone
who knew her. She always had a
smile, a big hug and a word of
encouragement. If you were hugged
by Lanora you were surely touched
by an angel. She was bom in Houston
and was a Baytown resident since
1975. She was a beautician in the
Baytown area since 1978. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ronald Earl Jones.
She is survived by her husband
and soul mate, Gary B. Wheeler of
Baytown; children, David Garrett,
Daniel Garrett, Brant B. Wheeler,
Meagan Wheeler, all of Baytown;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald
E. and Kathy Jones Jr. of
Conroe,George R. and Tammy
Jones of Livingston, Thomas
Edward Jones of Highlands; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Danah D. and
Randy Myers of Old River; Jen-
nifer and RJ. Kuehn of Caldwell;
grandmother, Myrtle “MaMae”
Martin and mother-in-law, Frances
Shotwell; brother-in-law and sister-
in-law, Randy and Rebecca Wheel-
er; sister and brother-in-law, Ronda
and Randy Cook and special
friends, Connie and Clint Johnson.
Also surviving are three special
aunts as well as numerous nieces,
nephews and other family who will
greatly miss her and were blessed
by having Lanora in their lives.
Visitation was held on Tuesday
evening at Navarre Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.rri.
Wednesday; March 29, 2000, at
Missouri Street Church of Christ
with David Smith officiating. Bur-
ial will be at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be close fam-
ily friends and family members.
Services are under the
ANDREW RICHARDSON
Andrew Douglas Richardson,
93, passed away, March 28, 2000,
in Houston.
He was born September 6,
1906, in Old Hyatt, Texas., in
Hardin County. He was a graduate
of Silsbee High School. A fifth
generation Texan, he was a long-
time member of First Christian
Church of Houston.
He later transferred his member-
ship to Bellaire United Methodist
Church.
He was past president of the Bel-
laire Kiwanis Club, a member of
the Masonic Bellaire Lodge #1336,
Houston Scottish Rite and Arabia
Shrine Temple.
Mr. Richardson was an avid
sports enthusiast with baseball as
his love.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Grayce McNeely Richardson
in 1981.
He is survived by his daughter,
Janne Davio and husband Ray, son
Judge Neel Richardson and wife
Pat of Baytown; sister, Mary
Ottyce Henckel; brothers, Odis
Richardson, Dr. Bill Richardson,
Don Richardson, grandchildren,
Laura Grayce Boone and Leslie
Gale Richardson.
The family will receive friends
beginning at 1 p.m. today, March
30,2000, until service time.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m.
today, March 30,2000, in the main
chapel of Forest Park Lawndale
Funeral Home.
Interment to follow in Forest
Park Lawndale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions
may be made to St. Mark’s United
Methodist Church relocation fond.
Arrangements are under the
direction of Forest Park, Lawndale,

JONES:
Frances M. Jones of Huffman,
left us on March 26,2000.
Frances was bom in Passaic, New
Jersey on March 28, 1933, and had
resided in Huffman since 1969.
A loving and devoted mother
and grandmother, she will be
deeply missed and will remain for-
ever in our hearts and thoughts.
Frances had many friends and
was well known throughout the
community as a kind and helpful
person who always had time to
help someope.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Frank D. Jones, in 1986.
Survivors include daughters,
Beverly Dickson of Dallas,
Antoinette Jones of Crosby; sons,
Frank Jones of Montgomery, Brian
Jones of Plano;.mother, Antoinette
Barcelona of Clifton, New Jersey;
granddaughters, Stephanie Dick-
son, Anastasia Jones, Alexis Jones;
grandson, Jacob Dickson; and
brother, Salvatore Barcelona of Lit-
tle Falls, New Jersey.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Thursday, March 30, 2000, in the
Rosewood Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 12:00
noon, Friday, March 31, 2000, at
Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel,
Humble, with the Rev. Fred P.
O’Connor of Sacred HeartCatholic
Church, Crosby, officiating.
Interment will follow after the
Chapel service in Rosewood Memo-
rial Park.
Arrangements are under the
direction of Rosewood Funeral
Home, 2602 Old Humble Road,
Humble.

block of Pecan Drive between 8 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Student reports jeweliy theft
A student at Robert E. Lee High School reported a necklace
and a bracelet were stolen out of his locker while he was in phys-
ical education class Tuesday.
Police receive 149 complaints
In the 24 hours ending at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Baytown
police received 149 complaints, including 14 alarms, two assaults,
twq vehicle thefts, six burglaries, two reports of criminal mischief,
13 disturbances, one robbery, one report of shots fired, eight thefts,
five injury vehicle accidents and 12 non-injury vehicle accidents.
