Chili-Stew Fund Raiser
The Cunningham Volunteer Fire
Department will have a Chili and
Slew Supper April 27th at the Cun-
ningham Community Center begin-
ning at 7 p.m. The price of tickets will
be $3 each and proceeds will go to the
department for much needed equip-
ment and operating expense.

Britt Skidmore
Dies April 12
Brill Skidmore, age 30, of Deport,
died Thursday evening, April 12, in
McCuislion Hospital in Paris.
He was bom September 29,1959
in Clarksville, a son of Rab and
Margie Powers Skidmore. He gradu-
ated from Prairiland High School in
1977. He was a member of Faith
Baptist Church of Deport. He en-
joyed rodeoing as a hobby and roped
"jmerous rodeos each rodeo sea-
son.
He is survived by his parents, Rab
and Margie Skidmore of Deport; his
grandparents, Roy and Nettie Lois
Powers of Mintcr and two brothers,
Tim Skidmore of Paris and Randy
Skidmore of Brookston.
Funeral services were held Satur-
day, April 14 at 10 a.m. in Faith
Baptist Church in Deport with the
Rev. Jerry Moore and Rev. Ricky
Logan officiating. Interment was in
Highland Cemetery at Deport under
the direction of Grant Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Scottic Norwood,
Tommy Malone, J.W. Sims, Donald
Crawford, Dana Norman, John Al-
len, Eddie Shepherd and Charles
Nichols. Honorary pallbearers were
members of Childrens II Sunday
School Classof Faith Baptist Church.
Arnold White
Dies April 13
Arnold White of Linden, formerly
of Cunningham, died there Friday,
April 13, after suffering a heart at-
tack.
Funeral services wee held at 2 p.m.
Sunday at the First Baptist Church in
Linden with Rev. Mangum officiat-
ing. Masonic graveside rites were
held at the grave with burial in Lin-
den Cemetery under the direction of
Linden Funeral Home.
Mr. White was bom in 1920 in
Cunningham, a son of J J. and Colia
Parker White. He had been employed
by the Texas Highway Department in
Cass County for 37 years.
Surviving arc his wife, Edith; a
son, Dwayne White of Linden; a
daughter, Linda Brimcr of Tyler; one
sister, Ema Dell Raley of Shallowa-
ter; one grandchild; one great-grand-
child and several nieces and nephews
including Merle Jones of Paris.
Myrtle Jarrett
Dies April 13
Myrtle Jean Jarrett died Friday,
April 13 at a Sherman hospital.
Graveside services were held
Monday, April 16 at Ccdarlawn
Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
She was bom August 17,1902 in
Scottsboro, Alabama, a daughter of
J.W. and Margaret Jane Murray Peek.
She married Pat Jarrett in Clarksville
and had lived in Sherman for one
year, moving from Tom Bean.
Surviving are one brother, Hugh
Peek of Scottsboro; two sisters, Mrs.
Emmalec Hamm of Sherman and
Mrs. Edna Putect of Bogata; several
nieces and nephews.
Troy Bryson
Dies April 14
Troy Wray Bryson, 54, of Paris,
died Saturday, April 14 in Presbyte-
rian Hospital in Dallas.
Services were held at 3 p.m.
Monday, April 16 in Bright-Holland
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
James Elsom and Dr. Wilbur Sim-
mons officiating. Burial was in Bogata
Cemetery.
Mr. Bryson was bom November
25,1935 in Red River County, a son
of Harvey and Winnie Scoggins
Bryson. He married Faye Williams
on August 24, 1953 in Clarksville.
He served in the Navy during the
Korean War and had been employed
by Lone Star Gas for 30 years.
Surviving arc his wife; his mother,
who lives in Paris; two daughters,
Teresa Allison of Parisand Beth Jones
of Garland; one sister, Kathryn But-
ler of Paris; two brothers, Bill Bryson
of Paris and Boc Bryson of Louisi-
ana; and four grandchildren, Shawn,
Chance, Anty and Rachel.
