CHANNELVIEW ROBBERIES
Channelview area busi-
nesses were again target-
ed by robbers on both
Monday and Tuesday
mornings.
Shortly after midnight
Monday, deputies were
dispatched to a motel in
the 17000 block of
Interstate 10 where a
female employee reported
having been robbed.
She said a man entered
the business and told her
“this is a stickup,” and
demanded money. He fled
running east on the free-
way after getting some
money. No weapon was
displayed and no one was
injured, a sheriff’s office
spokeswoman said.
The robber was
described as a white man
about 60 years old, about
5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8
inches tall and weighing
about 190-200 pounds.
He wore a dark jacket.
About 4:30 a.m.
Tuesday, an employee at a
Shell station in the 17000
block of Highway 90
reported being robbed at
gunpoint.
Two men entered the
store and demanded
access to the safe and
money from the cash reg-
ister. It was not clear if
they got access to the
safe, but a sheriff’s office
spokeswoman said they
escaped with some money
and cigarettes. A third
suspect did not enter the
store, she said.
One suspect was
described as a black male,
16-18 years old, about 5
feet to 5 feet, 2 inches
tall, weighing about 75-
90 pounds.
A second suspect was
described as a black male,
18-19 years old, about 5
feet to 5 feet, 3 inches
tall, weighing about 75-
90 pounds.
The third suspect was
described as a black
male, 23-25 years old,
about 6 feet, 1 inch to 6
feet, 3 inches tall, weigh-
ing about 160-180
pounds.
All three were said to
be wearing all black and
wearing masks.

The city manager also
said he was told by official
from Academy Sports and
Outdoors that their
Baytown location had one
of the strongest openings in
the company’s history.
Leiper also noted he and
the mayor have another
meeting scheduled with the
owners of San Jacinto Mall,
and local officials are con-
tinuing to encourage them
to revitalize the mall.
Most of this week’s
meeting was devoted to a
presentation by Justin
Bower of the Houston-
Galveston Area Council,
who introduced the group
to the effort to create a
Cedar Bayou Watershed
Protection Plan.

of contamination, as well as
setting water quality goals
for the project.
The Watershed Protec-
