Stress
Can Cause
Heartburn
If your hectic lifestyle causes
you stress, you may finu that
you suffer from heartburn and
don’t understand why.
Heartburn is the backup of
stomach contents into the
esophagus. It is caused by a
variety of factors, and stress
is believed to be one of them.
The reason is that stress pro-
duces acid in your stomach.
Dr. Donald O. Castell, Direc-
tor, Digestive Diseases Division,
and Professor of Medicine at
the Uniformed Services Uni-
versity, offers several sugges-
tions for relieving the symp-
toms of heartburn:
• Take GAVISCON®
• Stop or cut down on smoking,
and especially don’t smoke
right after a meal
• Don’t wear clothes that fit
tightly around the waist
• Avoid foods that may stimu-
late acid secretion in the
stomach, such as coffee and
alcohol
• Avoid fatty foods and choco-
lates, as well as greasy and
spicy foods
• Eat smaller, more frequent
meals
• Don’t lie down right after
eating
• Sleep with the head of your
bed raised about six inches
(preferably by placing blocks
under the legs at the head
of the bed)
• Reduce if you’re over-
weight (£1

JUNIOR CLASS
HOLDS MEETING
The junior class had a
class meeting last Friday
for the purpose of finishing
Prom business and dis-
cussing their end of school
trip.
It seems that there were
several juniors who did not
show up for clean-up after
the Prom. The class had
decided earlier to fine those
who did not appear a $5.00
fee. Kim Matranga, class
president, notified these who
needed to pay.
Next, they decided to go to
San Antonio to the zoo and
Brackenridge Park for their
end of school trip. Each
student is to bring $5.00 for
gas and bus expenses and
they will be eating food that
was purchased previously.
Have fun on your trip,
juniors.

NOTICE
Bank Shares Tax Litigation
; drawing the bank shares tax suit against the County !
and Harper I.S.D. and paying the taxes due plus any
penalties or attorney fees involved.
The reason for this withdrawal is that Stock-
holders who held shares as of January 1,1981, are the
ones effected by this suit. Some of these stockholders
have sold their bank stock since then and it is believed!
unfair to continue this suit when they are no longer
stockholders. I
; Sincerely,!

was held April 20 at 7 p.m. in
the Harper School Cafeteria.
There was a variety of
acts with the judges’ final
decision being very difficult.
The final winning act was
Roxanne Esquell, first place
with a solo song, entitled
Funny Face. Jeanna and
Lora Weed received second
place for a pantomime.
Third place went to Dalayna
Dykstra for a piano solo.
A division for class
competition was separated
from the individual compe-
tition. The winner for this
division was the third
graders’ choregraphed
routine to “Sing! Song! The
Witch is Dead!”
Congratulations to all
