OBITUARIES
JACKSON
Funeral services for Bernice Mur-
iel Jackson, 89, of Kingsland, TX
were held Friday, May 19 at the
Mission Park Funeral Chapels
North with Kewerend Al Cum-
mings olficiating Interment fol-
lowed at Lockehill Cemetery in
San Antonio, TX
She was born in Kingsland to
Edna and Emmitt Barnett and died
May 15, 2000.
She was married to Joe Jackson
After her retirement from the
Northside ISD she returned to
Kingsland where she organized the
genealogy society. She was a chart-
er member of the Llano Uplift
Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, a member of
the Daughters of the Confederacy,
the Llano Chapter of the Daughters
of the Republic of Texas and the
Packsaddle Chapter of the Family -
Community Education Club. She
was also the author of a soon to be
published book about her beloved
hill country. She was a member of
the Hoovers Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Joe Jackson, her parents
and five siblings.
Survivors include sisters Essman
McFadden and Jean Wilhelm, both
of San Antonio, 21 nieces and
nephews and host of friends.
BREWER
Graveside service for Kenneth
Dale Brewer, 55, of Llano, TX will
be held Thursday, June 1 at the
Llano City Cemetery with Rever-
end Joe Degi officiating.
He was born January 2, 1945 in
Llano to Della and Earnest Brewer,
and died May 28, 2000 in Austin,
TX.
(Hc had worked in the Oil Industry
as a pipcliner. He was a lifetime
resident of Llano and a member of
the First Presbyterian Church of
Llano.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; one son, Anthony Ray-
mond Brewer, sister Geneva Haas
and brother Harry Brewer.
Survivors include daughters Cin-
dy Brewer of Bastrop, TX and Can-
dice Nugent of Fredericksburg.TX;
sons Kevin Brewer of Oklahoma
and Terry Brewer of Bastrop; sisters
Oleta Long of Austin and Shirley
Crow of Llano; brothers Raymond
Brewer of Kingsland, W.J Brewer
and Ed Brewer, both of Llano; sev-
en grandchildren and numerous
Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends on
Wednesday, May 31, from 6-9
pm
In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to the Sue Brewer
Scholarship Fund in Llano.

abeth (Johnson) Tumlinson, 91, of
Llano, TX were held Saturday, May
27 at the Pittsburg Avenue Baptist
Church in Llano with Reverend
Brett Willis, Reverend George
Schultz and Reverend Othey Mc-
New officiating Interment followed
at the Llano City Cemetery in Lla-
no, TX
She was born October 23, 1908
in Liberty Hill, TX and died May
23, 2000 in Llano.
She was married to Wilford
Tumlinson on December 2, 1928 in
Liberty Hill. She was a clerk at
Charlie’s Store and Corner Drug
Store for many years She lived in
Llano since 1934. She was a mem-
ber of the Pittsburg Baptist Church
and was the church organist until
November 1999 She was also a
member of the WMU at the church
She was a member of the VFW
Auxiliary in Llano, AARP, Llano
Art Guild and the Packsaddle Home
Demonstration Club.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Wilford on January 4,
1990..
Survivors include daughter Caro-
lyn Edwards and husband Arden of
Seguin, TX; brother Finis (Bub)
Johnson of Liberty Hill; sisters
Mildred Walker of Portland, OR and
Dorothy Hutto of Leander, TX;
three grandchildren Shannon Ed-
wards and wife Melissa of New Or-
leans, LA, Tim Edwards and wife
Tracy of Seguin and Daniel Edwards
and wife Tracic of Coloma, MI;
seven great grandchildren, Sherrie,
Jason, Christopher, Anthony, Tyl-
er, Nathan and Taylor.
Pallbearers were Shannon Ed-
wards, Tim Edwards, Daniel Ed-
wards, Tommy Tumlinson, Edwin
Hutto, Lyndon Johnson and Charles
Hutto.
Memorial contributions may be
given to the Llano County Hospice
program or the Pittsburg Avenue
Baptist Church.

Graveside services for Dorothy C.
Newsom, 94, of Llano, TX were
held Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at the
Llano City Cemetery with Father
David Mosbargar officiating.
She was born May 5, 1906 in Ft.
Worth, TX and died May 27, 2000
in Austin, TX.
She was married to Frank N.
Newsom on November 11, 1929 in
Llano and was a housewife. She
moved to Llano in 1989 from Al-
pine, TX where she was a member
of the St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include son Frank A
Newsom and wife Betty of Austin
Memorial contributions may be
given to the St. James Episcopal
Church of Alpine, TX.
PEACE
Memorial service for James Wil-
liam Peace, 76, of Sunrise Beach,
TX will be at Sunrise Beach Feder-
ated Church on Friday, June 2,
2000 at 10 a m with Reverend
John Alsup officiating
He was born July 5, 1923 in
Danville, VA and died May 29,
2000 in Llano, TX
He was a U S. Navy veteran of
WWII He flew in the U S Navy
and was also a test pilot. He lived
in Sunrise Beach since 1990 com-
ing from San Antonio.TX. He was
of the Protestant faith and a mem
ber of the Sunrise Beach Federated
Church He was also a member of
the VFW and the American Legion
in Kingsland, TX.
Survivors include friend Sylvia
Stewart of Sunrise Beach; son Wil-
liam A Peace of San Antonio;
sister Dorotha Osborne, nieces Jo-
Ann Johnson and Sandra Godfrey
and nephews James Osborne, and
Anthony Young, all of Louisville,
KY.
Memorial contributions may be
given to the Sunrise Beach Federat-
ed Church Building Fund or Christ
Yoder Animal Shelter or First Re
sponders at Sunrise Beach
LEVERETT
Funeral services for Kenneth
Richard Leverett, 57, of Kingsville,
TX were held Wednesday, May 31
at the Ricardo Baptist Church in
Kingsville with Reverend Don
English officiating. Interment fol-
lowed at the Santa Gertrudis Ce-
metery in Kingsville.
He was born June 16, 1942 in
Llano, TX to Joseph White Lever-
ett and Kate Long Leverett and died
May 28, 2000 in Kingsville.
He was a master craftsman in
leather goods and a member of the
Ricardo Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, sister Cassels Wilson;
brothers Miles Calvin Leverett and
J.C. Leverett.
Survivors include son Ricky
Leverett and daughter Kimberly
Rhnea Leverett, both of Lubbock;
sisters Lou Thompson of Wichita
Falls, TX , Dorothy Strange and
Peggy Brown Merimon, both of
Lubbock and Marilyn Dry of Kauf-
man, TX; close companion, Helen
Mary Brown of Kingsville; two
grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews.

was held May 24 at the Eola Ce-
metery in Eola, TX with Reverend
Scott Thompkins officiating.
She was born January 13, 1909
in Concho County, TX and died
May 22, 2000 in Kingsland, TX.
She was married to Alvie Earl
Graham. She was a retired book-
keeper for San Angelo Theaters.
She lived in Kingsland since 1960
coming from San Angelo and was
of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Alvie Graham in 1994.
Survivors include daughters
Charlotte Earlene Fikes of Kings-
land and June Marks of Winters,
TX; six grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be
given to the American Cancer So-
ciety.
