Mothers' March in the January
March of Dimes has a new appeal
(or all women interested in build-
ing a healthier world for the chil-
dren of tomorrow. Women will bw
quick to see this implicit promise
in the broad goals of the National
Foundation’s newly expended pro-
gram.

that has become the traditional

The Smithville Tigers, coached
by Billy Spencer and' Doyle Rog-
ers, are in first place in district
basketball after a win over Schu-
lenberg last Friday night. Prior
to the game Smithville was In a
tie for first place, until the excit-
ing contest, which the Tigers won
M to 44. put them in the lead
David Rohde was high point man
for the night, scoring one-half of
his team’s total points—38. Victor
Psenctk was runner up with 10
points, and others making scores
were George Michulka, ft. Dale
Hannusch, 2, and Jimmy Han-
nuach, 2.

plates for 1050 will go on sale In
all county courthouses February
2, State Highway Engineer D. C.
Greer announced. The places will
be the reverse of 1008’s and will
have black letters and numerals
on a white background.
Greer stated that four and one
half million motor vehicle rtgis
tratlons were bought by Texans In
1008 "Don’t be at the end of that
long line. Get your vehicle regis-
tered early,” Greer urged. "The
registration deadline ia April 1,
hut we hope car and truck owoers
will put on the new plates as soon
as possible."
Greer stressed the importance
of registering all automobiles and
trucks in the home county of the
vehicle owner.

crime detection exhibit originated
and presented by Texas Law En

Smithville on Wednetday, Feb
4, according to Weldon Mays,
president of the Chamber of
Commerce The Crimemobile will
be downtown in the morning from

School to the afternoon from 1:00
until 4:00.
