NAICU president to be guest speaker at graduation
Ceremony to be
held in early May
The Graduation Com-
mencement for Spring '99
seniors will be held on Sat-
urday May 8 at 10:00 a.m.
in the Radford Audito-
rium. The guest speaker
will be Dr. David L. War-
ren. Dr. Warren is president
of the National Associa-
tion of Independant Col-
leges and Universities
(NAICU). He has also been
president of Ohio
Wesleyan University in
Deleware Ohio a member
of the executive commit-
tee of Campus Compact
and chaired a state task
force in Ohio to deal with
government reform.
The Baccaulareate ser-
vice will be held on Friday
May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the
Aldersgate Methodist
Church.
The ceremony will be
followed by a reception on
the campus mall south of
the United Methodist
Campus Center.
Students graduating
with at GPA between 3.5
and 3.699 will graduate
with the Cum Laude hon-
ors. Students with GPA be-
tween 3.7 and 3.849 will
graduate with the Magna
Cum Laude honors. Stu-
dents with GPA between
3.85 and 4.0 will graduate
with Summa Cum Laude
honors.
The number of seniors
that signed up last Fall to
graduate this May is 125.

MSG Election results in
non-sexist slate of officers
Chad Johnson was
elected new president of
McMurry Student Govern-
ment in last week's elec-
tions said Dr. Tom Jack-
son dean of student af-
fairs. Jori Coll was elected
MSG vice president Joe
Jacquez treasurer and Tim
Sechrist secretary.
"More than 340 stu-
dents cast their ballots"
commented Dean Jackson
"one of the largest turn-
outs in recent history."
Johnson who is major-
ing in biology comes to
McMurry from Denton.
Coll is a sociology major
from Hobbs N.M. Jacquez
a finance major from
Farmington N.M. and
Sechrist a general business
Chad Johnson
major from Lubbock.
One observer com-
mented this was a non-
sexist slate of officers
since the woman candi-
date was elected vice
president.
