says it just isn't so.
"It takes longer to do almost

Water Quality
Plan OK In
Area Urged
SUN AUSTIN BUREAU
AUSTIN iSpl — The Texas
Water Qualit.v Board has rec-
ommended to Gov. Preston
Smith that her certify the Hous-
ton-Galveston Area Council's
Eight County Regional Sewer
Study as the official interim
water quality management
plan for the-eight-county plan-
ning area.
The plan, which was fi-
nanced by a grant from the
Texas Water Quality Board,-is
a survey of existing sewer sys-
tems in the study including the
Baytown area and incorpor-
ates regional planning con-
cepts.
The regional concept, pushed
by both the TWQB and the fed- ;
eral government, stresses the
importance of sewer systems
set up on a regional basis rath-
er than in individual communi-
ties.
The plan was initiated in 1966
and done by two Houston area
engineering firms. It was fi-
nanced with a $400,000 grant
from the TWQB
A regional approach consid-
ers land use, population den-
sity; and distribution and water
requirements of the planning
region, which includes in 11-
county area surrounding Har-
ris and Galveston counties. In
addition, the plan specifies
sewer needs on a projected
population basis.
The plan, which was present-
ed at a public hearing in Hous-
ton July 23, is broken down into
nine areas of study: Lake
Houston, Greens Bayou, Hous-
ton Ship Channel, Aiiahuac-
Mont Belvieu, Richmond-
Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Clear
Lake, Texas City-La Marque

that the house be a comfortable
and restful place where every-
body comes home to lick their
wounds
There are three areas. Miss
Kaltman says, that should be
taken care of first—"the dishes
should be done, the beds made
and the bathroom cleaned, but
after that you have to choose
chores you will do to fit the
way you like to live."
She suggests cleaning one
room at a time—with as simple
cleaning supplies as one can
buy, always planning ahead-
deciding which chore can wait,
which should be done imme-
diately, training children to
pick up after themselves and
doing any chore in a concen-
trated period of time, so it
doesn't goon and on.
In addition, she advocates us-
ing pa'ckaged convenience foods
wisely, "jazzing them up a bit
yourself," getting family meals
down to a meat, vegetables
and-or salad, with a very
simple dessert, using synthetic
make is. to bend over back-
wards to let the guest know
she’s not going to any trouble.
;»|Well, I don’t see anything
wrong with having it show that
a hostess has gone to some
trouble.”

men's bars—Miss Kaltman still
thinks life was simpler and bet-
ter when women stayed at
home
But it deprived a great
many talented women of ex-
pressing themselves," she
notes. "The trouble is now, so
many women still feel terribly
guilty if things aren't just right
in their home but they do all
the new things too. Their jobs
are as demanding as men’s and
at the end of the day, they’re
really exhausted too:
‘I don't think this is right,”
toss Kaltman says, “that they
should have to do all. that and
housekeeping too.”
