Mary Harmon, a mem-
ber of Baytown Area
Quilt Guild is shown
with her prize-winning
quilt. The quilt design
is “Jewels in
Chocolate.” The quilt
has embroidery,
applique and piecing in
it. Mary has been
quilting for about five
years and this was
her first quilt to enter
into competition. She
won a blue ribbon, and
best of division of the
multi-media division at
the Houston Rodeo.

Aggravated
robbery
A man told police three
men robbed him at gunpoint
in a Baytown neighborhood
about 12:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim said three
Hispanic men in a dark-col-
ored SUV approached him
at the comer of Narcille and
Chilton. Threatening him
with the gun, they took his
cell phone and his wallet,
which contained about
$ 100 cash, and drove away.
Man in custody
Police received a call
about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday
from a man who said he
was in the police station
parking lot, that men in
masks were looking for him
and that he was armed with
guns, apparently for pur-
poses of self-defense.
Officers carefully
approached the man, took
him into custody without
incident and secured his
guns for safekeeping.
The man was taken to a
psychiatric center for evalu-
ation, police said.
Swapping bikes
Police said someone stole
a green and black boy’s 20-
inch bicycle from a resi-
dence in the 1700 block of
Mississippi Street between
1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, but
left a girl’s bicycle behind.
Funny money
Police were called to a
dollar store in the 2300
block of North Alexander
Monday after someone
found a counterfeit $20 bill
in the roadway. 1
Someone used another
fake $20 to make a purchase
at the store that same day,
according to police.
Stealing water
A City of Baytown
employee reported that
someone at a business in the
5100 block of Garth Road
had apparently been steal-
ing water through an unau-
thorized cbnnection from
about March 26 through
Monday when the illegal
tap was discovered. The city
worker disconnected the
connection, police said.
Graffiti
• Someone painted graffi-
ti on city property in
Jenkins Park, located in the
4300 block of Crosby-
Cedar Bayou sometime
between midnight and 7
a.m. Monday.
• Someone spray painted
a word on a Baytown police
patrol car between midnight
and 9 a.m. Monday while
the vehicle was parked on
city property in the 900
block of North Commerce.
• That same word was
painted on a bar in the 700
block of North Main but
was accompanied by a
swastika, police said. That
happened sometime over
the weekend.
Burglaries,
thefts
• A woman contacted
police Monday to report
that her boyfriend stole her
debit card, spent $1,500
with it and had not been
heard from in five days.
• Someone broke into a
building in the 5000 block
of Fairway and stole tools
worth an estimated $230,
according to a Monday
police report.
• Surveillance video at a
Baytown pawn shop
showed a customer con-
cealing a camera in her
clothing and walking out
without paying for it at
about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
• Someone stole the
tailgate from a white
Dodge Ram 1500 truck
while it was parked over
the weekend in the 2800
block of North Main,
police said.
• Someone stole a red
2004 Pantera 125cc
motorcycle from the 3100
block of Wilshire Lane,
according to a Monday
report. Loss is $1,000.

Between Monday and
Tuesday mornings,
Baytown police wrote 56
offense reports and inves-
tigated incidents that
included five assaults;
three burglaries of build-
ings; two vehicle burgla-
ries; three criminal mis-
chief cases; a driving
while intoxicated cas£;
three forgeries; an aggra-
vated robbery; 11 theft
cases; and 14 miscella-
neous cases.
Police reported no traf-
fic accidents during that
time period.
