White Making His Mark
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP)—Earlier in 1950 with the NCAA mark for
this year, former Arizona State
University football star Wilford
Whizzer" White said his son,
Danny, a sophomore at ASU,
would have to, make his own
mark.
Danny has begun to make his
“mark,” although both he and
his father indicate that it’s ear-
ly to make too many pre-
dictions about the athlete’s fu-
ture.
The elder Whiter a halfback
during his collegiate days, end-
the most yards gained during a
career. The record still stands.
“I want to see him play, but
I don’t want people to contin-
ually associate him with me,”
the elder White emphasized in
referencettFDffltay.
The Whites are no relation to
Byron “Whizzer” White, All-
American back in 1937 at the
University of Colorado and now
a Supreme Court Justice.
After Saturday’s display of
Danny’s passing ability, it may
ed his four-year varsity career fnot be too long before fans week by the Associated Press
start referring to Whizzer as
“Danny’s father" and not to
Danny as “Whizzer’sson."
