in the home of Mrs. J. C.
Deyo on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

ferings by the treasurer, the
meeting closed with the

Prayer”.
Refreshments were
served by the hostesses,
Mrs. Tom Treasure and
house is available. The club
house will be open and
available for use of the new-
comers at all times.
Mrs. Acker said that they
will try to contact all new-
comers before the first
meeting.

Church Holds Meet
The Christian Womens |
Fellowship of the First
Christian Church held its
regular monthly meeting on
Tuesday evening. The high-
light of the evening was the
report and talk given by Mrs.
Charles Wortham from the
Weslaco Christian Church.
Mrs. Wortham attended
the International Meeting of
C. W. F. which is held every
four years. This quadrennial
was held at the Purdue Uni-
versity campus and Mrs.
Wortham said it was a meet-
ing filled with interest for
the 4000 women who attend-
ed.
Mrs. Wm. Sanders and
Mrs. Walter Dressier
served as hostesses for the
group and Mrs. C. F. Archer
presided at the business
meeting which followed Mrs.
Wortham's talk.

The American Legion
Auxiliary will have its first
meeting of the new year Mon-
day night at 8 p.m. at the
Legion Hall. There will be a
musical program, according
to Mrs. Victor Brown, presi-
dent.

This is a national contest sponsored on the local scale by
KRIO radio station, McAllen. There will be one winner a
week for six weeks and from these six girls a single win-
ner will be chosen to compete in the state contest against
girls from other Texas towns. The state winner will go to
the national contest. __
