New Fuller Store
Slated To Open
About March 1
Another chapter in the success
stoiy of Laverne and Pal Fuller
will be added March 1 when the
new *30,000 Fuller’s grocery store
on South Main is completed.
Construction of the new build-
ing started recently and the Ful-
ler brothers hope to move in by
March 1.
The new building will be located
directly across the street from
the building that has housed Ful-
ler’s store since 1946.
Foundation on the new struc-
ture is already being laid/ The
building will be 80 feet by 50
feet as compared to the 40 by 55
building which is now Fuller’s.
The new building will be an all-
metal structure.
Fuller brothers are handling
their own general contracting. Al-
really given sub-tontracts are
Young Plumbing Co. and Quinn
Belt, Lowell Lammers is the ar-
chitect.
Pal Fuller, who with brother
Laverne is owner bf the grocery
store and service station at 9X3
South Main, said the new store
will offer a larger variety of pro-
ducts and would be more conven-
ient for the customers.
Pal Fuller came to Baytown
in 1946 and bought the service
station. Six months later the gro-
cery store adjoining the station
was built. La Verne came to Bay-
town In 1948 and became a part-
ner in his brother’s business.
Both Laverne and Pal are civic
leaders. Pal is a member of the
Lions club, Laverne a Kiwanian.
In 1954, Laverne served as pre-
sident of the Kiwanls dub. He
was later named to the Baytown
school board, becoming one of
the youngest members ever to
hold such a position in Baytown.
