Texas Rabbis To Convene In Fort
Worth For 16th Annual Kallah Meet
. Fort Worth — The Kallah of Texas Rabbis will hold its Sixteenth
Annual Convention in Fort Worth, Texas, March 17th and 18th,
with Dr. Meyer Waxman of the Hebrew Theological College of
Chicago as Guest Lecturer. For the first time since 1930 the Kallah
is meeting in Fort Worth again.
The term, “Kallah,” is of uncertain origin, but has been used in
Jewish sources for about 1500 years to connote a scholarly conclave.
The Kallah of Texas Rabbis was called together by the late Dr.
Abraham I. Schechter who was then Rabbi of Congregation Adath
Yeshurun of Houston for the purpose of discussing the studies pur-
sued by the membership and it
has been convening regularly
these 15 years. Occasionally, a
lecturer from outside the state is
invited.
Dr. Waxman was educated in
European Academies and at the
Jewish Theological Seminary,
New York and Columbia Uni-
versities, holding the degrees of
Rabbi, A. B. M. A. and Ph. D.
(Columbia). He has distinguish-
ed himself in the fields of Jew-
ish scholarship, literature and
education. Since 1925 he has
been professor of Bible and Jew-
ish Philosophy at the Hebrew
Theological College in Chicago
and instructor in Rabbinics and
Mediaeval Jewish Literature at
the College of Jewish Studies of
the same'^tyjy His publications
include

Jewish Literature,” and two
books in Hebrew, “The History
of the Philosophy of Education,
Pt. 1” and “The Proverbs of Is-
rael)) (Mishle Yisroel), besides
articles in periodicals and ency-
clopedias. Also, he is a contribu-
ting editor of The Dictionary of
Philosophy and A Fellow of the
American Academy for Jewish

change in the lives at many men.
It also gave a number of men a
new job in life—beating me Axis.
Blessed with seventy-two years
