Bride-To-Be
Is Shower Honoree
Miss Evelyn Velek, bride-
elect of Frankie Surovec, was
complimented with a miscel-
laneous shower Sunday, June
10 at the Shiner Catholic Gym
at 8 o’clock.
In charge of the bride’s book
was Miss Betty Jean Guettner
who registered the guests.
Upon entering, Miss Velek
was given a white carnation
corsage. She wore a cool, sum-
mer frock of beige nylon with
white accessories. She was led
to her place of honor by Dianne
Roeder and David Veit as
Jeanette Jaks played the tra-
ditional wedding march.
A most delightful program,
under the direction of Miss
Leonette Bolech, was presented.
Alan Lichey gave the selec-
tion, “Harbor Lights” on his
piano accordian.
A comical TV program mod-
eled after “This Is Your Life,”
with Margie Rebecek as Eve-
lyn, and Alan Lichey as Fran-
kie, was thoroughly enjoyed. It
showed a typical day in Eve-
lyn’s life depicting the re-
actions of love. Others assisting
were Jeanette Jaks, Betty Jean
Werner, Patsy Kutach, and
Gerald Westphal. To bring the
skit to a climax, and to explain
her behavior, came David Veit
dressed as cupid.
Dorothy Velek gave a clever
reading using the letters in
Evelyn’s name. Accompanied
by Jeanette Jaks, “The Girl
That I Marry” and “My Heart
Cries For You” were rendered
by Margie Rebecek and Leo-
nette Bolech.
A piano selection, “Serenade
of the Bells” by Jeanette Jaks,
followed.
Miss Velek graciously thank-
ed each and everyone for the
many useful and lovely gifts
and the 43 hostesses for the
shower.
The serving table, covered
with a lace table cloth held a
beautiful floral arrangement of
white daisies.
Betty Jean Guettner served
sandwiches, Geraldine Pulkra-
bek served cake, and Dorothy
Velek poured punch.
The hostesses’ gift was a Mix
Master.
