Mr. and Mrs. August Kubec-
ka and son, Gus, spent the Mo-
ther’s Day weekend in Jackson-
ville, Arkansas with Capt. and
Mrs. Robert J. Butschek and
daughters, Debra, Cindy, Kathy
and Mary Ellen. Mrs. Kubecka
remained over until Wednes-
day of last week and accom-
panied her daughter and grand-
daughters to Shiner for an ex-
tended stay. Capt. Butschek
was transferred to Kincheloe,
Mich. His family will join him
there when housing facilities
are available.

week at Camp. Mrs. Deane and
son visited with her mother,

Four softball teams from
Saint Ludmila’s Academy re-
turned to Shiner from Nada,
where the Tri-Deanery softball
finals were held Sunday, May 2,
with two first-place trophies in
their possession.
Capturing the trophies were
the sixth grade girls, a team
consisting of Nelda Vahalik,
Claudia Krametbauer, Ludmila
Chilek, Jeanette Novosad, Peg-
gy Maneth, Mary Lou Aschen-
beck, Phyllis Roeder, Mary
Ann Moeller, Rosalie Nevlud
and substitutes, Mary Rose Roz-
novsky, Jeanette Strakos and
Lillian Dusek. This team earn-
ed its trophy by defeating Wei-
mar with a 23 to 7 score and
later Nada 13 to 9.
The eighth grade girls, who
captured their trophy by de-
feating El Campo 19 to 9 and
then battling it out with Wei-
mar to a 22-17 victory, were
Mary Jane Simper, Alice Ma-
chart, Barbara Moeller, Janie
Dornak, Jeanette Buj no ch,
Helen Machacek, Theresa Beal,
Dolores Janek, Georgie Darilek
and substitutes, Diana Berger
and Jeanette Filip.
