CHRISTMAS GREETINGS
Although I have been in Shi-
ner only seven months as Pas-
tor of the First Methodist
Church, I have learned to know
and appreciate many people in
this area. To all of you in this
community I say—May you
have joyous and Christian
Christmas and a Victorious New
Year.
Each year, each day we must
seek anew the true meaning of
Christmas. We can do that only
as we have a personal relation-
ship with God and with His
Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
In this way we get to know the
real meaning of life.
As a magnifying glass brings
together the rays of the sun
into a burning point, so the
cradle of Bethlehem brings to-
gether hope, love,, faith, adora-
tion, worship, and centers all
about the infant Christ.
Here we see the promise of
God. This promise comes to
people of every race and color,
age and class; strong and weak,
poor and wealthy, enslaved and
poor. “Whosoever will may
come.” “Behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy, which
shall be to all the people. For
unto you is born this day a Sa-
vior, Who is Christ the Lord.”
—Luke 2:10; 11.
We see and fell the love of
God. This love falls upon
Christian parents, children,
young people, the aged ,the sin-
ful and sick—all feel the heal-
ing rays of this love. “For God
so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that
whosoever
should not
everlasting
We look
Bethlehem and all children be-
come sacred'. Needy hands are
stretched out to us. For Christ’s
sake, we place before Him born
in Bethlehem gifts to bring life
abundant. Christ asks to live
and reign in our hbmes and our
hearts. Only through Christ can
our homes be saved.
Let us pray . for the
ience of the miracle of
mas. We see God’s
“Wonderful, Counselor,
God, everlasting Father, Prince
of Peace.”
God has come to live with us.
May we be born again to a
richer, finer, and more Christ-
like life. God help us to get the
real meaning of Christmas, so
that its power and spirit will
take hold of the world and save
it. We pray that “Peace on
earth, good will toward men”
will be practiced every day of
every year.

At this Christmas time, may
all of us give more thought to
the spiritual meaning of this
great day. Through Christ God,
the lasting truths of our faith
are revealed. Let us then dedi-
cate our lives to the service of
God. Let us give thanks to Him
for our priceless heritage to
worship and live as free peo-
ple. Let us pray for His guid-
ance of our chosen leaders. Let
us spread the old message of
the Christmas Angel, “Glory to
God in the Highest, and on

a “happy New Year” depends
not on our wishing—but rather
on our walking with God. Such
walking with God leads us to
