on my own free will During my
association with the Dep-

everyone with the same fair-

exercise as Justice of the

The only so called “cam-’
paing promise 'I can make is
that I will not change my way of
doing things If I am elected my
office will be run with ef-
ficiency, fairness 4 adherence
to the rules mat govern that
office I will do my best to instill
confidence in the minds of those
who elect me
I regret that I cannot speak to
each and everyone of you, but
this would be very hard to do. I
am, 1 believe, the most qualified
man for the job with my past
training and my association
with law enforcement. I have
had a chance to look at both
sides of the different situations I
will encounter and I think this is
a strong argument in my favor.
Let me also say that I believe
common sense has a lot to do
with this job, too, an area in
which I don’t think I am
lacking
I would ask, in closing, for
your support and your vote,
both in the primary election on
May 6, and in the general
election in November.
Remember though whether you
support me or my opponent, if
you don’t go vote, you are not
having your say in how your
government is run, and as euiy
as it is to vote, I think this would
be a shame Thank you for

New ruling
on emergency
food stamps
You may be eligible for ad-
ditional food stamp benefits as
the result of a recent court
decision in Aiken V Obledo
regarding emergency issurance
of food stamps. For several
years, food stamp offices have
been allowed to issue food
stamps on an emergency basis-
without first requiring full proof
of need for stamps households
with little or no income (usually
less than $90 per month). How-
ever, before food stamp offices
would issue these stamps,
they did have to either contact a
person who was not a member
of the household in order to get
some confirmation of the
household’s need for stamps or
have the household itself
provide proof of its needs And
no household was allowed to
receive these emergency
stamps more than once every
six months Now a Federal
court has ruled that it was not
legal to limit a household to
emergency stamps only once
every six months or to require
confirmation of the household’s
need before the emergency
stamps could be issued.
So, if you applied for or asked
about food stamps since August
1974, you may be eligible for
additional benefits or a
reduction in your current
purchase price if, you fit into
either of the following groups:

Mr Harry Thompson, Sr.,
owner of Cotulla Livestock
Market, Inc., said "We an-
ticipate some new buyers in tne
next few weeks because of
drought conditions. We are
expecting some good Charolais
cows and calf pairs next week
We suggest cattlemen request
us to Bangs test your cows
before the sale if they are young
or middle aged There is a
pretty good market for tested
cows But remember we must
have your permission to test
them. (If one Bangs out then all
must go to the packers.)”.
