to take officer’s gun
' Police responded to a distur-
bance Sunday morning in the -
4900 block of Garth Road,
where a woman appeared to
be intoxicated and was
deemed dangerous to others
and to herself. When an offi-
cer arrived, the woman resist-
ed arrest and tried to take the
officer’s gun from its holster.
The woman was arrested for
assault on a public officer and
taking a weapon from an offi-
cer.
Driver flees after
car accident
The driver of a red Pontiac
fled on foot after hitting
another vehicle Sunday night
in the 3100 block of
Wisconsin Street. The driver
of the other vehicle was taken
to San Jacinto Methodist
Hospital with minor injuries.

The Baytown A&M Club
and the Aggie Moms will host
one of the university’s most
famous former coaches at
„ their annual Howdy Party this
weekend.
Jackie Sherrill, who was the
head coach at Texas A&M
University from 1982 until
1988 and who led the team to
three Southwest Conference
championships, will be the
guest speaker at the event.
“Jackie beat the T-sips
(University of Texas) like a
drum,” said David Evans,
president of the city’s A&M
Club, “We’ll have (Aggie
mascot) Reveille there with
her cadet handlers and the Yell
Leaders, too.”
The party not only gives
former students the opportuni-
ty to reminisce about their
days on campus but also
serves as a fundraiser for
scholarships.
