with four
budget scenarios.
• If the college does not raise
revenues, it would need to
make additional cuts
$950,487. About 75 percent of
the- college’s expenses are in
salaries.
• Utilizing reserve spending
would reduce the cuts to
$450,487 under the second sce-
nario.
• In addition to utilizing the
reserve spending, the college
could increase the property tax
rate by 3 percent, which would
generate an estimated addition-
al $510,000. By using this sce-
nario, the college would be
slightly less than $60,000 in
black in its operating budget.
• In the fourth scenario, the i
college would increase the
property tax rate by one cent,
which would
$900,000. In addition, it would
increase the tuition rate for the
spring semester by $2 a credit
hour, which would bring in
about $160,000, and utilize
reserve spending. The college
would be a projected $609,513
revenue over expenses.
The college has already “cut
where we could and increased
where we had to,” Lee College
President Michael Murphy told
regents last month.
