CISD Bond passes
Carthage ISD gained a new board member and
passed a maintenance bond issue in Tuesday's election.
Candidate LC Hicks became the new board member
after receiving 266 votes. Bobby Williams received 230
votes. The maintenance bond issue passed by an over-
whelming majority of 2,(X)4 votes for the bond and 539
votes against it.

Beckville VFD and Carthage Fire Department along with the Texas Forestry
Service responded to a fire off of FM 959 Wednesday that spread from an aban-
doned house to the woods. Once on scene, the firefightrers were able to keep
it from destroying a threatened home.
