Temporarily Meeting At
Burleson High School

meeting of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge
No. 180 was called to order
by President Dennis Bara-
bas.

bers in the pledge of allegi-
ance, President Barabas
read a certificate stating
that State Senator Betty
Andujar had presented the
lodge with a Texas flag
which had flown over the
state Capitol on June 16,
1976.
Members thanked Senator
Andujar for the flag and Hejl
for time and effort put into
the project of obtaining
flags.
Secretary Kitty Rippin
read the minutes of the
previous meeting which
were accepted as read.
The treasurer’s report
was given by Mrs. Marie
Hampton and Laddie Rejcek,
financial secretary, stated
“You can break the smok-
ing habit in only 5 days —
over 10 million have proved
it!” This is the well documen-
ted claim of the famous
5-DAY PLAN TO STOP
SMOKING, a scientifically
conducted group therapy
program sponsored as a
community service by Sev-

es all over the world. The
“5-Day Plan” has proved
eminently successful in help-
ing smokers to “kick the
dhabit”.
Mary Ann Krivanek was
elected to the position of
reporter’s assistant.
Next meeting for the
lodge will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 10
in St. Ann’s Church.

ing smoking, Dr. Mitchell
states, “Medical evidence
has proven conclusively that
smoking is a great health
hazard. In addition to its
direct relationship as a cause
of lung cancer, it also greatly
increases the risk of heart
attack, the nation’s number

three times the risk of heart"
attack as compared to a
non-smoker. This is due to
the fact that smoking in-
creases the deposits of cho-
lesterol which clog the arter-
ies, and it also increases the
chances of blood clots form-
in the blood stream.”

simple little shepherd boy?
Who would have thought
that out of a burning bush
God would call the great
lawgiver, Moses? And who
would have thought that
King Ahab would be slain-
not by a king in battle, but
by a certain man who “at a
venture” drew his bow? But
God guided that arrow, and
it found its target.
As certainly as God chose
those unlikely men and guid-
ed that arrow to Ahab, so
will His judgment come to
those who refuse His mercy
and reject His Son. No man
will be able to say, “I have
been judged unfairly.” Those
who go to Hell will under-
stand that they were getting
what they deserve. You
cannot escape the judgment
of God, nor can you hide
from His sight one misdeed.
Though God’s judgment is
certain, thank God His
mercy and love are unlimit-
ed. I would hate to have to
raise the question of the
awfulness of sin-how God
hates sin and must punish
it-and not be able to give a
remedy. But the same God
Who hates sin loves sinners
and has made for them the
provision that is necessary.
That provision is a cross and
the blood of a Saviour. “The
soul that sinneth, it shall
die”; but thank God that in
Christ there is life. “While
we were yet sinners, Christ
died for the ungodly.”

“Certainly.” he replied
