The Eumathian Club pre-
sented its 1976 Bicentennial
Project to the City of Burle-
son Wednesday, Sept. 15, in
ceremonies at City Hall.
President Mrs. Barbara
Putnam presented the pro-
ject to Mayor Robert Ables,
who accepted for the City of
Burleson.
The project consisted of 13
framed photographs of all
the mayors of Burleson from
1910 to the present. The
portraits will be hung per-
manently in the city hall.
A brief history of all the
mayors was given by the
project chairman, Mrs. Mary
Norris.
The club invited personal
representatives from each
family to be present for the
ceremony.
Mayors, the years they
served and their family
representatives are listed
below.
Mayor W.P. Lace 1910-
1912 and 1923-1924, deceas-
ed; Mayor George W. Bran-
som, 1912-1921 and 1924-
1933, deceased, represented
by his son, George E.
Bransom, Sr; Mayor Norris

ed, represented by three
daughters, Miss Ann Smith

ness meeting.
PTA programs for 1976-77
will be of an educational
nature with students per-
forming at specified meet-
ings, said Doug McDonald
program chairman.
A free nursery will be
provided for children--in-
fants to four years-while
parents attend meetings.
A PTA tree will be placed
in each room at the school for
students to decorate by
placing leaves on as their
parents join PTA.
Each leaf placed on the
tree, which will be formed
from a tree branch, will bear
the name of the parent who
joined as well as the stu-
dent’s.
TO WED-Mr. and Mrs. D.R. Dowdy of Crowley have
announced the engagement of their daughter, Donna
Ruth, to David T. Landrum. The couple will exchange
vows in a double ring ceremony at Handley Methodist’
Church in Ft. Worth on October 2 at 7:30 p.m. The
bride-to-be is a 1975 graduate of Crowley High School.

UNITED IN MARRIAGE-Miss Joan Goddard and
Grover Lynn Barr IH were united in matrimony on Sept.
1 in Columbus, Ohio. The bride is the daughter of Nai L.
Humphrey, 512 NW King, and George A. Goddard of San
Jose, Ca. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Grover
Lynn Barr II of Lucasville, Ohio. Mrs. Barr, a 1976
graduate of Burleson High School, plans to enter college
at Ohio State University where her husband is presently
attending after his recent discharge from the U.S.
Marines.
THIRD TIME WINNER-Christi MacheUe Allen added
two trophies to her collection Saturday night. She
captured the “Miss Starlight of America State
Photogenic” title and was chosen second alternate for
modeling in her category at a Miss Starlight of America
Pageant in Bedford. Christi, the four-year-old daughter of
Roxie Allen, had been selected a winner in two previous
pageants. She was sponsored by Bransom’s Grocery,
Haskew and Gamble, Nejman’s Carnation and Burleson

ed plans for a busy year.
The annual carnival, spon-
sored by the PTO, will
incorporate a “50’s” theme
with prices sounding as
though it were the happy
days again.
The big day will be
October 2 from 12 noon
p.m.
Pancho’s will cater
noon meal.
Parents and teachers were
well represented at the first
PTO meeting at which Mr.
Worley discussed the equip-
ment needed for the new PE
program.
Needed are hula hoops
and bean bags and lots of
other goodies.
Scout groups who would

Fire Department officials
remind citizens that it is
their fire department-there
for the purpose of protecting
citizens and property.
