After Nov. 1, 2012, the Sanger News will convert to paid circu-
lation. The one-year subscription price is $23 for Denton Coun-
ty, $28 for out-of-county but in Texas, and $32 for out-of-state.
For those of you who were previously paid subscribers to the
Sanger Courier, the Sanger News will put you on our mailing
list effective November 1 at NO CHARGE for the duration of
your previous subscription to the Sanger Courier if you let us
know that you were a former subscriber. For example, if you
had renewed your Sanger Courier subscription in March of
2012, beginning November 1 we will mail you the Sanger News
FREE through March of 2013. Here are the ways to contact
the Sanger News if you were a former subscriber to the Sanger
Courier:
The weekly deadline to submit news articles, photos, and let-
ters to the editor is each Tuesday at 10 a.m. Items accepted
after the deadline will be published only as time and space
permit. Publication of all terns is at the sole discretion of the
publisher. The weekly deadline to submit display advertising is
each Monday at 5 p.m. The weekly deadline to submit a classi-
fied ad is each Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Sanger News s published weekly, each Thursday, by
Lemons Publications Inc.
Through Nov. 1, 2012, the Sanger News will be mailed FREE
to every home in Sanger, zip code 76266. Newsstand copies
are available Wednesday afternoons at local convenience stores
for 50$.

Mildred Media Cogdell
Mildred Metha Cogdell, 96, of Sanger, passed away on
Wednesday, October 10, 2012. She was born on Septem-
ber 26, 1916 in Denton County to Will Hopkins and Metha
Winkelman Hopkins. She married Monroe Cogdell in 1961,
who has preceded her in death.
Services were held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 with
burial following at Old Alton Cemetery. Mildred is survived
by her step daughter, Wanell Soslow and husband Richard;
step son, James Cogdell and wife Gayle; sisters, Martha
Thorell and husband Carl, and Betty Bishop; 3 grandchil-
dren; and 2 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death
by her husband; her parents; sister, Virginia Behnke; and
brothers, William Hopkins and Samuel Hopkins.

Ralph B. Cole
Funeral services for Ralph B. Cole, 78, were held on
Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran
Church in Gainesville with Rev. Scott Sundbye officiating.
Interment followed at Nelson Grove Cemetery in Cooke
County.
Mr. Cole passed away on
Thursday, October 11, 2012 in
Denton at Integrity Transitional
Hospital (Seasons Hospice Unit.)
Born July 27, 1934 in Fort
Worth, Texas he was a 1951 grad-
uate of Gainesville High school
and Texas A & M University in
1956. He was in the U.S. Army
airborne in 1957 and was editor
of The Hondo Anvil Herald in
1956-57, The Alice News 1957-
59 and was City Editor of The
Gainesville Daily Register from
1959-61, when he reentered the U.S. Army a commanding
officer of the Gainesville National Guard Unit.
He returned to the Gainesville Daily Register in 1961 as
city and farm editor of the local newspaper. In 1969, he was
named an editor with The Associated Press in Oklahoma
City, where he covered the House of Representatives.
He was publisher of the Sanger Courier and the Pilot
Point Signal for several years before joining the Postal Ser-
vice in 1978 as a rural letter carrier. He retired from the Post-
al Service in 1996 in Sanger.
He was member of the Sanger Independent School Dis-
trict Board of Trustees. He served as mayor of Sanger after
leaving the board of trustees from 1976-84. Ralph married
Carole D. Sluder Gonzilas on August 9, 1993 in Gainesville
and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Henson and
husband Edward of Plano; a son, Thomas Edward Cole
and wife Tina of Azle; sister, Eva Leia King and brother,
Dr. James R. Cole of Gainesville; step sons, Jimmy Gonzi-
las and Michael Gonzilas of Gainesville; several nieces and
nephews; grandchildren, Cole, Marshall and Tyler Henson
and Annie Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thom-
as and Lonnie L. Cole and wife, Carole D. Cole.
His grandsons and stepson served as pallbearers.

to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Par-
kinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305 or apda@apdapar-
kinson.org.
