Jesus gave Wood three
messages to carry back to
earth - First, people are to
love and forgive on another.
Second, the people of God
need to pray. Third, there will
be a supernatural release of
miracles.
“I’ve seen every miracle
that there is,” Wood said. Af-
ter he spoke with Jesus, Wood
was returned to earth, where
20 minutes had elapsed. In
that time, Wood said that
paramedics had arrived on
the scene and decided he
was dead. He said his sister’s
prayers are what brought him
back.
As soon as he began show-
ing signs of life, Wood was
rushed to a hospital, where
he received 100 stitches to
his face and extensive recon-
structive surgery. His nose
had been severed and he had
received many other injuries,
including his neck, broken in
three places. For nine months
he couldn’t speak, which was
difficult for Wood because of
his career aspirations.
Then, Wood said Jesus en-
tered his hospital room. “Je-
sus put a hand on my throat
and healed it,” he said. When
the nurse came in and wished
him good morning, Wood an-
swered back. “She dropped
the tray and went out and got
doctors,” he said.
After returning home,
Wood began traveling and
has continued to travel ever
since, telling the story of
the miracle that he says
God gave him. Although his
story is unusual, Wood said
he doesn’t encounter many
people who don’t believe it.
“The most important thing
is a miracle when you need
one,” he said.
He also carries with him an
X-Ray taken shortly after the
accident. “You can’t doubt
the authenticity of an X-Ray,”
he said.
Evangelist Gary Wood will
be ministering at the Abun-
dant Grace Church at 322 Pat
Cleburne St. in Yoakum where
Jerry Wise is the pastor. This
service will be held Friday,
Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. You may call
361-741-6002 for directions
to the church. Everyone is
invited to attend this special
service. There is no admission
charge. A free-will offering
will be received.

Evangelist Wood to
speak at local church
Gary Wood was 18 years
old, living in Farmington,
N.M., and was a student at
Wayland Baptist College
studying to become a gospel
singer. On Dec. 23, 1966, he
was driving home from a
party with his younger sister,
Sue.
“She was singing ‘Si-
lent Night’ and then she
screamed,” Wood said.
Just as he turned to look
at her, the car slammed into
a semi-tractor-trailer parked
illegally along the road, “I
never saw it. It was like hit-
ting a brick wall,” Wood, who
will be speaking in a Yoakum
church, said.
As a result of the accident,
Wood’s face and neck were
repeatedly cut by the turn-sig-
nal lever which broke off. He
was thrown against the steer-
ing wheel, which crushed his
larynx, suffocating him.
For all intents and pur-
poses, Wood said, he was
dead. He said his spirit left
his body.
“I left it behind, like you
take your clothes off,” he said.
For a few moments, he could
st ill hear his sister’s cries, but
then he said he was whisked
into Heaven.
At the entrance to a golden
city, Wood said he saw an
Angel, who admitted him. He
next saw a friend, John, who
had previously died in a car
accident. “He took me on a
tour of Heaven,” Wood said.
John took Wood to a large
room, like a library, where
he showed Wood that his
name had been written in
the Lambs Book of Life a book
which he said lists the names
of all those whose sins have
been forgiven by God and
paid for by the blood of Jesus
Christ.
Wood said his tour contin-
ued, taking him to the River
of Life, past the throne of
God and among the millions
of people from all nationali-
ties.
He said there were trees
swaying to music being sung
by angels, people and flow-
ers with faces that sung also.
“Streets had names like
Glory Hallelujah Boulevard
and Praise the Lord Avenue,"
Wood said.
And then, he said, he met
Jesus, “I fell at his feet,”
Wood said.
