Renfro, was robbed by a man who walk-
ed into his store about 8:50 p.m., last
Friday and ordered two small items,
then produced a gun from apparently a
holster under his left shoulder, and told

and gave him all the currency he had
in the register, and the robber saw a
stack of checks and asked if he had
any bills in the stack, Mr. McVickers
picked them Up and ruffled thru them
to show they did not contain any money,

The response to the Santa Helpers appeal
for donations to help the needy at Christmas
has been most gratifying toall, though it is
fnasad that more meney than has been donat-
ed so far, will lx needed. Tuesday morning
ths fund totaled 1617.17, which is some SI00
lens than was given last year. Your money
will not be spent unless absolutely needed, snd
if it is not spent at Christmas, it will be kept
for any emergency that might arise in our
community next year, as the Santa Helpers
has been made a year round organization, di-
rected by a board, consisting of local business
mt n, preachers, and heeds of civic groups Do-
nate tot his worthy causs.

Three teams of Burleson
FFA placed in the FFA Area
leadership contest held Dec. 7
at La Vaga High School in
Waco.
Teams participating in the
contest were FFA Quiz com-
pored of David Smallwood,
Bobby Bowiand, Jimmy Car-
peater and Jim Walraven. This
team placed first and was en-
titled to compete in the State
Contest held in Huntsville on
Dec. 14.
The Chapter Farmer skill
team placed second, members
of the team were Bob Schu-
macher, Randy Hayes, and
Lynn Walker.
The green hand skill team al-
so placed second and was com-
posed. of Larry Peacock. David
Coffee and Roy Bean.
The FFA Teacher who coach-
ed the teams is Mr. A. E. Fra-
sier. His assistant is Mr. Wil-
liam C. Polster.

up and slammed the car door, and the
hijacker turned and walked out with his
hand holding the gun under his coat,
and was last seen walk'ng northwest
away from the store. Mr. McVickers
said the robber and the customer met
at the door or just outside.
Two Sheriffs Deputies, Huffman and
Kirkland and city Policemen, Altizer
and Estes answered the summons for
help, though no one could be found an-
swering the description of the robber,
and as he did not touch anything in the
store, no finger prints were possible.

Rebecca and Mary Margaret Burns, daughters of Mr
and Mrs. E. B Burns, took first place recently in the
Junior-Senior High School Division of the Talent Show
sponsored by the Fort Worth YCWA, and conducted at
Town Hall, Seminary South. They sang, "Take A Message
To Maiy”, and “If I Had A Hammer."
Rebecca, a senior and Maty Margaret, a junior in our
local school-, has had training from their mother. The
talent show is conducted monthly, and winners will com-
pete next June with other winners for a $150.00 educa-
tional fund

robbery, thought he is fortunate in hav-
ing insurance he said that he thought
would cover the loss.
The man about 30, was described as
about 5 foot 6 or 7 inches tall, weigh-
ing some 145 pounds, wearing a black
coat, and had a bandage or patch on
his right cheek, indicating he might have
a sore or wound on his face.
