Everett Kirk Scott of Chula
Vista, Calif, died at 7:30 a.m.
Sunday, June 8, in the IX? Leon
Municipal Hospital following a
month's illness there. Mr. Scott
was visiting a brother in De
Leon when he became ill.
Funeral services were held
June 10, at 10:00 a.m., in the
De Leon Church of Christ with
Payne Hattox, minister, offic-
iating. Burial was in Oak-
land Cemetery with Higginbo-
tham Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements. Music was
by the Church of Christ choir,
pallliearers were Bob Huddle-
ston, Emmett Gober, Johnnie
Gray, Howard Barnes,
Scott and Bill Barnes.
Mr. Scott was born June 6,
1883 in Albany, Indiana to Wil-
liam F. Scott and Rebecca Min-
ton Scott.

Ordinance’ reads as follows:
It shall be the duty of the
City Marshal, or any other
officer, agent, or employee of
the City of De Leon, desig-
nated by the Board of City Com-
missioners of the City of De
I eon, to- capture and impiund,
in a pen provided by the City
known as the ‘Dog pound’ any
dog, male or female, found run-
ning at large without a collar
and vaccination tag as provided
in section one of this Ordinance.
Any dog so captured and im-
pounded shall be held in the
Dog pound for a period of not
less than 48 hours, during which
time the owner of said dog, or
other persons interested in the
dog, may claim and redeem said
dog upon payment of $3.00 to the
City Secretary, and upon pro-
viding said dog with a proper
collar and vaccination tag. Any
dog so captured and imjx>unded
which is not redeemed within
said 48 hour period, shall there-
after be destroyed by some of-
fficer or agent of the City of
De Leon.

day, June 4, at the Methodist
Hospital in Lubbock. He was
a resident of Morton. Fie was
born on March 13, 1923, in
Ranger.

p.m. Thursday, June 5, in the

of 10f> White Oak Dr., Austin,
Texas died May 29, 1969 and
was buried Sunday June 1 at
Austin with Weed - Corley Fun-
eral Home in charge of the
services.
Mr. Merritt was born and
reared in Ik' Leon, graduated
from the local high school and
served in the army during World do Iron Cemetery with Hig-
war n. lie was a son of
L.D. Merritt Sr. who was a
pioneer citizen of ix> Iron.
He had been in ill health for
several years.
His survivors include his
widow Mrs. Jane Merritt, two
sons larry and ixiw and two
grandsons all of Austin; two
brothers, Jim of Houston, Floyd
of Austin; four sisters, Mrs.
Edna Nabors of ix» Iron, Mrs.
Mary Bowden of Fort Worth,
Mrs. Faye lawless of Pasa-
dena, Mrs . Lucy Petersen of
Melbourne, Australia and sev-
eral nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Merritt is the former
Jane Pass who was also rear-
ed in De Leon. She and her
husband had many friends and
acquaintances in this area.

Mrs. T.T. Terry of Fort Worth,
3 grandchildren and 2 great
grandchildren.
