1902 in Rosalie community of Red
River County, a daughter of A.F.
Tyer and Elizabeth Smiley Tyer. She
attended Rosalie schools and Paris
Business College. She worked for the
Tex-Sun Fruit Co. for many years
before becoming an assistant super-
visor, with the Texas Department of
Mental Health Hospital Division. She
married John Russell Anderson on
May 28, 1955 in Dallas. She was a
member of the Bogata United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband; a step-
son, Donald S. Anderson of Rockwall
and three grandchildren.

Dies At Age 81
Mrs. Jewel Iona Derrick, 81, of
Cookville died Thursday, July 4 at
Physicians Nursing Home. She was
born September 18, 1903 in Titus
County and was a memer of the Lone
Star Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters,
Katie Hicks, Helen Beard, both of Mt. .
Pleasant and Gert Reynolds of ’
Cookville; seven sons, Delmo Derrick
of Plainview, William derrick of Pitt-
sburg, Murrel Derrick of Arizona,
Charles Derrick and Claude Derrick,
both of Mt. Pleasant, Travis Derrick
of Pittsburg and Clyde Derrick of
Arizona; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-
grandchildren and one great-great-
grandchild.

Sylvia Shupp of Bogata died Mon-
day, July 1 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Paris.
Services were pending with Bogata
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shupp was bom November 30,
1922 in Comanche, TX, a daughter of
Henry EUis and Cora Ruth Norwood
Morphew. On March 22, 1941, she
married George Shupp.
