and auction at the Negley Communi-
ty Center on August 10, Saturday at
6 p.m., with the auction following the
meal, to benefit Kyle Taylor of
Clarksville, who was seriously in-
jured in a bull riding accident
recently;
Anyone wishing to contribute •’
anything to the auction is asked to
leave their donations at Floyd’s
Welding Shop in Clarksville, Johnson
Grocery in Negley or at Jake’s Con-
oco in Bogata. The barbeque meal
will be free for contributions.

Local Kin Has Special Quilt
Mrs. Leon nan>. formerly of because the aunt had cared for it wen
during the time phe had it. A
medallion quilt, it has greens,
browns, blues, reds and blacks in the
many pieces that were hand stitched
to make the large cover.
Mrs. Sharp’s quilt has to be in
Houston by July 1 where any wttok
spots or damage will be repaired. The,
quilt exhibit will open on San Jacinto
Day weekend in April next year in the
Texas capital. After the openh* part
of the exhibit will tour art museums
throughout the state.
Since Mrs. Sharp’s quilt wan not *
made in Texas, her’s has the distinc-
tion of being one of 10 quilts selected
for the ‘‘Gone To Texas” category.

To Deliver Farewell Mesaage

association for three years and was
on the advisory council for the state
WMA.
He also helped reorganize and up-
grade the Talco Fire Department and
helped organize the First Responders
where he had served as assistant fire
chief, captain and in the ad-
ministrator capacity. He taught CPR
basic first aid out of the Texarkana
Chapter of American Red Cross. He
was named to the honorary chapter
of Rivercrest FFA last year and on
the board of trustees for the FHA.
During his ministry in Talco, the
church has added a fellowship hall,
recarpeted the whole church and part
of the parsonage, furnished the
fellowship hall, had ceiling in sanc-
tuary redone, installed a new public /
address system and added a carport.
The church has had 39 additions dur-
ing the past year.
At the time of his resignation, his
wife, Peggy, was president of the
local WMA. She also served the
Fellowship District WMA as presi-
dent in 1981 and 1982 served as state
recording secretary and was Begin-
ners Sunday School teacher.
The Barnetts with their two sons
will move to Humble on July 22.

been made in 1875. Her great-
grandmother, who died in 1918, gave
it to her mother’s father as a wedding
gift in 1898. I
Her grandmother let one of Mrs.
Sharp’s aunts have the quilt and in the
spring of 1983, asked Mrs. Sharp if she
would like to have it now or inherit it.
Mrs. Sharp decided to take it.
