of the Fire Commissioners of the
Panola County Rural Fire Preven-
tion District No. 1 will be held at 7
p.m. Tuesday, March 18 in the
Commissioners' courtroom in the

Members of Post 5620 of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars of
Panola County have recently en-
dowed a scholarship at Panola
College. The scholarship will be
known as the "Veterans of Foreign
Wars of Panola County Scholar-
ship." Eligible recipients of the an-
nual scholarship are the spouses,
dependent children, or grandchil-
dren of members of VFW Post
5620.
The VFW Post has given several

Ancil moved to Carthage from
Houston about five years ago and
was of the Methodist faith. She was
preceded in death by her husband,
James Robert Boone, who died in
1988.
Survivors include her daughter,
Helen Boone of Carthage; and sis-
ter, Helen Rider of Carthage.
Kelly D. Walker
Funeral services for Kelly D.
Walker, 69, of the Galloway Com-
munity will be held at 2 p.m. Sun-
day, March 16 at Galloway United
Methodist Church. The Rev.
Mervin Scott will officiate. Burial
will follow in the Adams Cemetery
in the Logan Community under the
direction of Hawthorn Funeral
Home. He died Thursday, March
13 in Houston.
Bom April 7, 1927 in Galloway,
he was the son of Alfred Monroe
and Lydia Cockrell Walker. Kelly
was a resident of Panola County all
his life, and a member of the Gal-
loway United Methodist Church,
and Masonic Joaquin Lodge #856
AF. & A.M. He was preceded in
death by two sons, Charles Alford
Walker and Tony Scott Walker;
two brothers, Waymon Walker and
Leon Walker; and a sister, Lenora
Walker.
Survivors include his wife,
Margarette Walker of Galloway;
sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie
and Yvonne Walker, Arnold and
Carol Walker, Linnis and Edna
Walker, and Clint R. Walker, all of
Galloway; brother and sister-in-
law, Marvin Edward and Mary
