The Sanger footballers are showing improvement each
week. The Indians have overcome some crippling injuries
and are easily the youngest squad in the district but are on
their way to being big winners. The Indians host Whitesboro
this week. Go see them.

Paul Harvey's article.
"Some Ways To Pay For Tax

Gainesville Register, led me
to receive a copy of 'The
Government Racket--
Washington Waste from A to

paperback book clearly
points out what we don't
know about government
spending that is bankrupting
our country. It clearly
answers where all the waste

with a final chapter on "How
to Reform the United States

I have listened to all the
rhetoric by our presidential
candidates and have read
"United We Stand" by Ross
Perot. As I see it, he is the
only candidate who offers
any hope of attacking the
real lssue--the federal
deficit.
As a citizen of Crossroads
where we have had some
crosswords, Mike Ballard
was there when we needed
him. He did not let my
community down, and I ask
you not to let him down. Vote
for MIKE BALLARD
Constable Precinct Two.

your gross salary limited to
the first $51,300. So if you
make $51,300 salary per

In 1950 a salaried worker
paid one percent on a
maximum of $3,000 or $30
per year. That, my friends, is
an increase of 13,000 percent

last 42 years. The increase
has been 17,333 percent.

Bob Powell will work
diligently with other law
enforcement agencies and
area schools to reduce crime
in our area. These crimes
have too long been ignored
by the current
establishment.
Finally, the Constable's
office, under Bob's guidance,
can through fees paid to
serve papers and hot check
warrants, pay for itself and
provide competent law
enforcement without extra
cost to the taxpayer.
Vote for R.L. "Bob" Powell
for Constable, Precinct Five.

The east side of Lake Ray Roberts went one up on the west
side last Saturday when citizens legalized the sale of beer and
wine in Pilot Point.
New Jobs, new tax dollars, new business will follow. The
turnout for the election was 930 votes---maybe the highest
percentage turnout of voters in Texas history. I wouldn't be
surprised to see renewed effort on that side of the lake for a
marina, since a marina with beer sales will certainly beat a
west side "dry” marina.
To the Editor
We the people of the
Constable Precinct Two area
have a choice of two
candidates. So much of the
time you vote against
someone rather than for
someone. Mike Ballard has
been a hardworking public
servant and should be
returned to office. He is
qualified and experienced.
If anyone cares, I have decided to vote for Ross Perot. I
don't care for his personality, but I like what he says. I doubt
if he can win but votes for Ross will show the folks in
Washington that Americans are fed up. Maybe Perot's
movement will be the start of a new political party. _
George Bush has completely lost contact with the average read and studied by all

Let him face rising insurance costs, workers comp, and all
the other problems that businessmen face every day. The
debates showed me that there is little difference between
Quale or Gore or Bush or Clinton. They are politicians.
Electing the president is important, but there will be a
more important election in 11 states, including California.
Those states will vote to limit the terms of congressmen.

To the Editor
I have known Mike
Ballard for many years. I
knew him when he was a
reserve police officer, than
as Aubrey's Chief of Police
and as our Constable. I also
know Mike Ballard as a good
friend and neighbor. I know
him to be honest and
dependable. I only wish that
all the voters in this
upcoming election knew him
as I know him.
We will be very fortunate
if, after this election, Mike
Ballard remains our
Constable.
To the Editor
In 1984, when Mike
Ballard was elected to the
Constable's office, the
concept of fighting crime
quickly gave way to serving
civil papers only. Even now,
if you need help while he is at
his full-time Job at the City
of Denton Fire Department,
tough luck!
This is 1992. Our precinct
has been enlarged 600
percent--from less than
7,500 to over 46,000 people -
and covers over 450 square
miles.
$35,000 PLUS Is a FULL
TIME Job, not a side Job.
Ballard served notice that he
will remain a FULL-TIME
PROFESSIONAL FIREMAN
for the City of Denton if
elected. Will we have to hire
extra help to cover for him
while he is on duty at the
Denton Fire Department?
For eight years we have
had a part-time "paper
server." NOW IS THE TIM^
FOR A POSITIVE CHANGE!
Please support R.L. "Bob"
Powell. As former President
of the Denton County
Taxpayers Association, he
understands taxpayers'
rights. Bob will work full
time to assure an efficient
office that is available when
needed.

It seems no one,
especially politicians, wants
to talk about social security.
And this subject needs a good
airing. So I will. Social
Security means different
things to different people.
First there are the payers of
social security taxes, if you
work for a salary and/or
make a profit from a
business, you pay. For
salaried people the tax

under the column headed
FICA (including Medicare
Hospital Insurance) is
